When did Boston change their name from the Americans to the Red Stockings? When did they change it from the Red Stockings to the Red Sox?

Should there be an international playoff series at the end of each season to determine the true world championship team?
I'm not talking about all star teams but the teams that win their respective leagues around the world. Your thoughts.

Bandwagon fans help prop up baseball, which is, let's face it, a sport fading in popularity. They certainly should outrank football fans. Don't you think?

Also, is a person who lives in Boston or Atlanta whose favorite team is San Diego a bandwagon fan? I mean, one can't really help who their favorite team is, can they? I live in the midwest and my favorite teams are not from my state. But they have always been my favorite teams.

It just seems to me, though, that bandwagon fans are better than no fans. Am I wrong? Am I right?

Come on! Skinner took the side of caution because he was unsure as to where the ball was so he held up Lofton. So he get's blamed for the Indians losing? What a joke.

Meanwhile, Sabathia nor Carmona could manage one win after pitching two games each and Pronk could not hit water if he fell out of a boat in that series.

The question yesterday was asking people to bash both sides, the Red Sox and Yankees. I made a goofy comment about Jeter and Manny in a locker room purely for laughs and you report that? Grow up. If you can't handle a comment like that, don't read my stuff anymore. What's the deal with overly sensitive people around here?

I am basing this question on several factors: Sabathia becomes a free agent after the 2008 season and will command big market money. Do the Indians have anyone who could possibly fill his shoes such as an Adam Miller? Do you offer Sabathia in trade? Also - couldn't he be considered Cleveland's A-Rod of the postseason - someone who delivered big numbers in the regular season but was a total fizzle in the postseason? Here is just a small part of Sabathia's comments on Monday and a basis for this question. The guy couldn't calm himself? He is a professional paid millions and a championship was at stake. Do you pay for regular season glory and postseason fizzle especially for this reason.

"I wanted to win so bad," said Sabathia, who went 1-2 with an 8.80 ERA in three postseason starts. "I'm a real competitive, emotional guy, and it just kind of took over. That hasn't happened to me in a couple years. It's a matter of me being able to calm down and letting my stuff play out........."

Do you take offense to anything Kevin Millar did or said(that video they played during the Red Sox-Orioles series)do to the fact that Millar once played for the Boston Red Sox and still has friends on the Red Sox team from 2004? Do you think of him as sort of a benedict arnold?

We won the pennant, fair and square!!!Get over it already. So what if you have hatred for Boston, go crawl back in your hole.

On another note...........Boston played a very good team in the Indians. They played hard and they have nothing to be embrassed about how they played. They are a good organization and ball club.

They are the first ever baseball team to have an internet website before they ever played the franchise's first game.

They have played and won more games than the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Their first ever manager was born just a few years after WWII ended.

They serve beer past the 7th inning

They almost won their division once.

Who has more tradition than this storied franchise? I can't find any?
