dave - according to his article on wikipedia, Justin Morneau was very good in high school, and didn't go to college:
"Morneau is a 1999 graduate of New Westminster Secondary School, where he was named the New Westminster High School Athlete of the year and was a member of Canadian national champion baseball teams in 1997 and 1998. In 1998, he was selected the best hitter and catcher of the National Championships playing for Team British Columbia. Morneau did not attend college."

I know, very slightly, one long-retired major leaguer. Used to work with his daughter and son-in-law, and one time on a trip to California we arranged (at my request) dinner with him. Nice guy, loved to talk baseball, so it was quite a treat.
Thought Bonds was an arrogant jackass (this, before ROIDS!!! came along), so that should make the haters momentarily happy.

A friend of a friend was buddies with former releiver Jim Mecir. We hung out as a group a few times. Mecir is a di## however.

I know a former major league ball player that is one of my best friends cousins father, which would make him the uncle of my best friend, and he played around 8 years in the majors.
