Why are these games on so late, I don't understand the logic behind starting an east coast playoff game at 8:37 pm EST.

Blame it on Fox. Trying to get the majority of the game in prime time for all areas of the country.

I don't think it has anything to do with east coast or west coast. I think it is all about Fox. Whatever the true reason is, it is horrible. If young children want to watch, they cannot. Same goes for older people, people having to get up early the next morning. Sad to say, I was crushed that the Indians were eliminated but now I can finally get to sleep at a decent hour. I was so dang tired I could barely hold myself up so maybe I should thank CC Sabathia or the Red Sox or whomever because this is better than No Doz now because you can bet I won't be up watching the Rockies or the Sox. And they wonder why ratings are so low? DOH!

Mostly so it doesn't star too early on the West Coast. An 8:37 ET means 5:37 PT. Any earlier and they'd miss a good chunk at the start of the game.

Because starting at that time allows the west coast folks to see at least part of the game. Simple math, 5:30 pm est coast equals 8:30 pm east coast

Fox only cares about east coast ratings.

They suck. No consideration for people who work or have kids.

Who says fox only cares about the east coast rating?? I would think if they cared one bit they would start it an hour earlier?

To appease the tv networks showing the games. It gives them higher ratings. More people are home and watching tv.
