The rest will hurt the Rockies. They can practice, run simulated games, do whatever they want. But it really is not a substitute for game play. Look at the WS from last year. Detroit, while they went cold at the end of the year, had a great season. They lost the first game of the ALDS, then went on to win every game leading into the WS. But they had time off. Everyone said it would help them, give them the rest they need. But the Cards came in riding the end of their season high and won the whole thing, despite the lesser of the two records, despite what a lot of people said would happen. They still had the flow of playing and winning. There really is no substitute for that.

This year the Rockies went on a crazy hot streak. But the worst thing for a hot streak isn't losing, you can always bounce back from that. The worst thing for a hot streak is time off. They have to get BACK into the groove, Boston is already there.

Boston may be "tired" in some people's eyes, but their starting rotation is rested properly, and they have unflappable veterans in Manny, Papi, Lowell and Tek, mixed in with the youth of Pedroia, Ellsbury and Papelbon and playoff experience and excellence in Beckett and Schilling. It is only 4 more wins to a championship so energy is NOT going to be a problem.

Eight days and it didn't do the Tigers any good last season. At this point of the year a layoff that long does a team no good, but there is nothing that can be done, since the starting dates for each series is set. It will hurt them against a Red Sox club who is far superior than any in the NL playoffs.

It has been over a week since the Rockies played last. They are professional athletes, and they knew that the games coming up will be the most important games they have ever played, I think they have probably kept themselves fresh and ready to go.

8 Days since they won the NLS. They are too solid to be hurt by some time off, besides, the Red Sox are emotionally and physically drained from their 7 game series

No, i'm tired of people asking these same questions, look, the rockies will not be affected but they will lose the W.S. maybe they can come back next year, and be red hot.

Just as the Red Sox were physically and emotionally drained following the 2004 ALCS, right?

A week, but they've been practicing at Coors Field. I think it's actually better for a team to get extended rest than it is only one or two days because everybody will be healthy and 100%.

Since October 15, and yes, this would hurt them.

East Coast PHL sports analyst >Bill Fishman dittos that an extended vacation might have been more enjoyable for the Rockies spent hanging out at a Tropics spa than spinning wheels in snow of the type that blanketed the Mile High City on Sunday.

"The layoff will hurt the Rockies," Fishman echoed.

"They've had over a week to get ready for their opponent.

"They will make it entertaining, but the Sox win easily.

"They would've given the Tribe a decent showing and had a chance to win, though."

I think it's been at least 8 days and they have been doing the intramural stuff or whatever they call it. But that's got to hurt them.
