Do you have any confidence in your upper management after the Gary Mathews signing?
Look at his career stats

At 32 unless he's juicing this year was a fluke. So offensively he's a dud. Defensively nothing special. He's Angel's payroll for the next five years. Nobody else is going to take him off the Angel's hands.

Do you believe that Angel's management has a clue about baseball?

Are you just happy to see that Jeter didn't win it, or are you more concerned that Ortiz didn't win?

Look, the MVP award is not about overall stats which Jeter had. The MVP is about being the guy that brings your team the success it needs which morneu did down the stretch. The yanks are full of stars, thats the problem with being great on that team. If Jeter went down they have A-rod right there who is the best shortstop in the game today not to mention many other bats, so would jeter going down hurt the team at all? Not much if at all. If Justin Morneu went down the twins would not have made the play offs so tell me now why Jeter is more valuable to the yankees?

Why is it that you hate the Yankees but deep down inside you wish your team had the same success? Why can't you all admit that you'd trade your teams history for half the success of the Yankees? Tell me why you wouldn't have wanted 10 divisional titles, 6 Ameican League Pennants and 4 World Championships during these past 11 seasons for your team? You mean to tell me that if given the chance to have Derek Jeter on your team you'd say no? How does it feel to have your 30 seconds in the sun knowing that the Yankees are still the team everyone wants their team to be like? Did you know that someone actually got my first message kicked off because I didn't ask a question? Can you imagine the shallow minded individual who might have done that?

While it's nice to see a fellow Canadian win the award, I have to say that I think Morneau was a horrible choice. Twelfth in the league in homers, seventh in BA, and second in RBI - not bad, but not MVP-worthy against Mauer and Jeter. I don't even think Morneau is the most valuable guy on his own team - Mauer and Santana are both more important.

Jeter and Mauer both had higher averages and OBP (Mauer was 50 points higher), and both play much more valuable defensive positions. One guy voted Jeter sixth, and five guys didn't even rank Mauer on their ballots. To me, that's just plain stupid.

Anyway, that's just my opinion - what do you guys think?

winning the MVP award?

Let's see if you Yankee fans can answer this one with the same amount of class that Jeter displayed when congratulating Mourneau in winning the MVP.

So the Dodgers just threw $9m a year at a guy who has had OBPs of .326 and .330 the past two seasons, and who only scored 87 runs in the leadoff spot last season. But I keep reading here and on baseball forums that it was a good move? I know he can steal bases, but it's tough to do that when you're not reaching base.

Can someone explain how this is a good move?

1.Carlos Zambrano
2.Vincente Pidella
3.Rich Hill
4.Gil Meche
5.Wade Miller/Mark Prior

What do you think? With the cubs offense, thats pretty good. Neal Cotts is also a possibility for starting 5th
If prior is healthy, he could be number two. Our backup starter could be Sean Marshall. Julio Lugo said he would play center field if the cubs are interested. He is a favorite of Lou Pinella.
