because they got abreu and he is a lot younger and more talented than old gary. bobby is still producing and only getting better where as gary is nearly past his prime and more injury proned. they cant give away a-rod, no baseball org. in their right mind would want to take on that sort of contract. and the yanks will never get rid of jeter, he is too clutch in the playoffs and have been around for a while and everyone loves him in new york. but yes the yanks do need pitching but they believe in a powerful offenses and not pitching as shown in the past. but there are a lot of free agents on the list this year and i would not be suprised to see the yanks throw there money around like they do every year.

I think it was.
Of course my answer is biased because I am a Tiger fan.

The Yankees needed pitching, and Detroit has a stockpile in thier farm system.
I think it was a win/win for both teams.
Although the pitchers The Yankees got probably won't be ready for The Bigs for another year or two, they will come back to bite The Tigers in the butt.

Sheffield gives The Tigers extra pop in our line-up, and that was something they needed.
Plus The Yankees dont have to deal with his "attitude" anymore. That becomes The Tigers problem.

I look forward to the 8 meetings against The Yankees in '07.
(Aug.16-19 in NY & Aug. 24-27 in Detroit).

Yes, it was a good idea!! Sheffild is at the end of his career! A-Rod and Jeter still have years to play!

You got three young pitchers, that's a steal, that's the equivalent of diamonds in baseball.

Can't trade Jeter, he's the face of the yankees and he has a no-trade clause.

Can't trade A-Rod, he has a no-trade clause and for some reason wants to stay in the hostile NY environment.

You would trade Jeter?
Well Sheffield wasn't happy about his reduced role with the Yankees. He was on record saying he wouldn't play 1st base next year. What could they do but trade him for something they needed. Sheffield was a good RBI man with power but his age, 36, and injury made him expendable. Alex and Jeter are money men and can move this team into the Series next year.

Aw poor you, it's bad enough someone trying to steal your cat never mind the rest of the cr@p! I'm so pleased your beloved cat is ok though and how useful sharp claws are lol....... I would agree with some of the other answers. All you can do is keep a diary of events, record the noise if possible and try and get your neighbours involved. There is safety in numbers but you will have to have sufficient evidence to do something about the waste of spaces. As for your cat it seems you are doing everything you can and as cats don't tend to like other cats much, I suppose a mate is out of the question? lol. You'll just have to try and tire him out as much as possible with mad cat games and get everyone involved! but look on the bright side, you will be getting more than your fair share of exercise! Hope you find a solution and soon xxx :)

1st off they would never trade Jeter
and A-Rod has a no trade clause

The Yankees already have a RF in Bobby Abreu and Shef did not want to play 1B. The Yankees had no need for him and needed pitching, it was the best move they could make.

Why not arod or jeter??? umm....who is the yankees backup 3rd baseman and shortstop? EXACTLY! Yankees have Cabrera, Damon and Abreu...and oh yea, Matsui for outfield...they dont need an extra 36 year old outfielder hanging around. He can still hit, but he can barley field anymore and he is expensive.

Yes, the Yanks had the habit of giving up prospects for high $ free agents for years. By unloading Shef we get three young, promising talents to bolster the teams biggest need...pitching.
