A true fan may take a liking to a particular team or driver and will be pleased if they do well and feel for them if they do not. They will not become a faceless member of a sycophantic crowd who, if attending a race acts childishly, dressing up, waving flags and booing anyone but their leader if they do well. In short a true fan is mentally independent, fair minded and big enough to acknowledge a good performance by any competitor. In ten years F1 has really gone downhill in sporting terms and the often uninformed hype provided by the media together with the obsessive and neurotic reactions of some so called fans is becoming intolerable, as are the attempts by many in the sport to question others on the flimsiest grounds. Does anyone else see all this as the total ruination of our sport by money and the cult of celebrity? The latter in my opinion something that only the young and impressionable or downright thick subscribe to.

Please don't get me wrong - I used to be a Ferrari fan (from Gilles til Schuey joined!) but after the race, my husband and I were joking that any problem or appeal post-race would go Ferrari's way! If data from the FIA show fuel is illegal, surely BMW & Williams should be disqualified. However, if they had been thrown out, Hamilton would have been World Champion, not Ferrari. Hmm - so this fuel decision makes Ferrari World Champions! I wonder if the result would have been the same if the fuel had been used by McLaren and Hamilton was world champion?!! And surely, as the FIA is so keen on saying, 'breaking the law is breaking the law', the teams should have been disqualified!! Look at the official F1 website for details! formula1.com/news/headlines/2007/10/7023.html
(As an aside, does anyone else think it is odd that Raikkonen and Massa swapped positions?! I thought every driver should go for the best finishing place, and that teams were not supposed to have any form of favouritism

Read the part about this guy wanting NASCAR to once again change the chase format to make things closer.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news;_ylt=Ai3rC5MW0mVERbdKQ_blpSrov7YF?slug=bm-observations_martinsville102107&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

I'm sorry.....but the other drivers had a chance when the chase started. Just because it isn't close for some, this clown thinks that NASCAR once again change the format. He wants to insure that all 12 drivers have a chance......regardless of how badly they perform. You can't make a NASCAR playoff that's similar to other sports. If that were the case, there would be an elimination format where at least half of the 12 drivers would be out of contention by this time.

I sure wish the appeal won't go through. Anyone with similar thoughts on how "unaccepting" Ron Dennis is? Let's face it, Fernando congratulated Kimi in the interview session. That was the first thing he did. Lewis' quoted words were: I'm coming back stronger next year. I like the sound of that! But then...

Ron started the post season with an appeal to dethrone Raikkonen. Well, you can't blame him for trying, but with the CONFIRMATION already processed and everything, I think he should just accept it like what his drivers did.

Both were fighting to get their hands on their first WDC! Who clearly deserves it more: The 2-time runner-up or the rookie and why? Congrats to Raikkonen!

I think he is the best driver I have ever seen at missing wrecked cars. He never gets caught up in other wrecks.

I think he is the most improved driver comparing the start of the season to now.

So the FIA hasn't given up on Hamilton yet eh? Now they are planning to disqualify Heidfeld Kubica and Rosberg for having fuel irregularities and put Hamilton into 4th position making him the champion.

Dare I say, if they do this, most people including Hamilton supporters would not want Hamilton to win it that way.

I did last nite...400 lap (200 each direction). Field started with 24 cars on 1/3 asphault banked track. It ended with only 13 cars. Great Race! Kinda like the race today with all the wrecks?

I mean they are both the most popular people in there sport by a Giagantic margin and niether has done that much winning. Both are a lot more talented than some bum off the street but have they proven themselves to be the best...Nope.

Please do not tell me about all of Jr's Busch stuff, it is so embarassing, kinda like me trying to argue with a Yankees fan about how the Red Sox AAA team won a bunch of championships.

Apparantly BMW and Williams could be disqualified from the race for using fuel that is too cool. If this did happen Hamilton would be world champion.

This would sum up the farce that F1 has become this year. We should be discussing the best season in years but instead it looks like the FIA are doing their upmost to ensure that the season is remembered for its politics rather than the fantastic racing.

Although i was desperately hoping Hamilton would win the championship, i hope he doesn't win it this way because at the end of the day it should go to the best driver which was raikkonen (marginally)

I like it when Jimmie Johnson wins, because he does the best burnouts, even grabbing the checkered flag without letting up on the throttle (very cool), but if they would've went four more laps, possibly Ryan Newman could've won. After all it was the second week in a row for Newman to be running in the top 2 positions with less than 5 laps to go.
