Ok.. First off -- I know this will never ever happen.. But I have been wondering for a while now.. What would you fans do, If Dale Jr. left DEI and went over and signed to drive for one of the Toyota Teams... Seriously.. I want to know what you think your REAL REACTION would be to that.. There seems to be a lot of love for the Mets here. Is it because there are a lot of New Yorkers? As I see it, the Mets have a horrible pitching staff this year(especially with Pedro out until who knows when). Their ace is 41 years old, El Duque is average, but the second best pitcher on the squad. The bullpen is average at best. Now they have a good offense, but we know that pitching and defense wins games. Why the love for what appears to be a very average team? I can think of 6 better teams in the NL alone.

I read a story years ago that i hae been curious if it was fact or not.

I think it took place in Minisota.

A young boy had just moved into town, and had never seen ice much less played hockey before.

The town had a minor league (pee wee) hockey team, and he for some reason wanted to try out for it.

He couldnt skate, and couldnt play hockey and the coaches realized this right off. But considering the town, he was made 3rd string goalie, knowing he probably would never see the chance to play.

The season went along and the team did terrible. They won a few games but mostly were disgrased.

The final game was coming up, and it was against the state champs, a game no one was looking forward to.

Within days of the game however, the first string goalie fell down stairs and broke his leg and the second goalie got sick (or something).

This left the goalie who had never played a single game so far.

Everyone was sure they were dead meat, and did not expect much from him.

They weren't even trying to show like they were giving SOME effort. Notice nobody really ran, they were practically walking through it. Totally agree with Bill Simmons: "To LeBron James, who coasted through the Skills Challenge on All-Star Saturday and played the All-Star Game with the uplifting, charismatic intensity of a female porn star trying to break one of those "most male partners in one afternoon" records. Could we end up putting him in the "Too Much, Too Soon" Pantheon some day?
