Hey, if it goes in it goes in. If you are thinking about college ball, though, u should change it while you can.

As long as the ball goes through the rim. That's all that matters, not your shot. I'd shoot a granny shot every game as long as it goes in. Although I don't like watching Shawn Marion shoot, he makes his shots. The only reason you should change it is if your shot doesn't produce good percentage shots or it is a shot that can easily be blocked.

I would suggest changing it. It may still go in, but with better form you should do a lot better.

People keep bringing up Marion, but last I checked 32.6% isn't that great a percentage to be shooting from 3 point range.

If you've been doing it for a long time (10+ years) I'd say keep what's working for you, but otherwise I'd make the attempt to correct it now.

Unorthodox in what way? Do you bring it up from below the chest or swing it behind your head? A good shot has a quick release which makes it more difficult for the defense to block. So if you shoot from the below the chest or behind the head, you may want to change. I don't know how old you are, but if you are young you'll get stronger and develop a good jumper.

For me, you should not change your shot, instead you must add another unorthodox shots to practice, you must practice it everyday to become your shot more quicker and harder to defend. Unorthodox shots made because of tight ball control and mastery of dribbling, that's why in basketball, dribbling the ball was a basic training; the special practice is to dribble the ball by the use of your forearm and pectucing the ball using your forearm, Shaun Marion had a strong arms that's why he can make the unorthodox shots; so if the defender will defend you excellently. you can to score by yourself. :)

Don't change your shot. If it goes in, it goes in. Do you know how many try to shoot the ball in proper form and still can't make a shot? When it comes to shooting there is no correct way. There is only the right way for you.

If your shot is hard to block, then keep it. The problem with unorthodox shooting styles is that they tend to be out in front of the body and easy to block. Look at Shawn Marion, he has a weird shot but its no problem because it goes in and it is hard to block as well.

If you're making 3 out of 5 (60%) or better there is no need to change it. If it feels good keep doing what you're doing. I will give this advice: the key to your jumpshot is leg strength. Once your legs get tired, the jumpshot becomes weak.

No you shouldnt. A lot of ballers have unorthodox shots like Shawn Marion of the Phoenix Suns. You should stick to what you can do.

Make sure you jump as high as you can on each jumpshot. This will prevent blocks and eventually become instinctual. As long as you jump high on your shot, I would keep it.

no because many people have a normal shot and they can't make it. if you can make the ball, don't touch your shot. think about marion and martin.
