How can anyone completely dismiss Michigan? The explanations Ive seen here are completely without merit.
1) Michigan had their shot - ok, so since when was the national title game played at Buckeye stadium? Is the national title game not supposed to be played on neutral ground? Also, by that logic, USC had their shot against Oregon St. By the way, who won that game?
2)Michigan is tied for second in their conference - By whose measure? Yes they and Wisconsin have the same number of Big 10 losses, but Michigan has the heads up. Also, any team in the nation would be 2nd if they played in the Big 10.
3)USC has higher quality wins - really? It is impressive that USC beat Arkansas(without a healthy McFadden)(8), Cal(21), and ND(12), but I think that Michigan's wins over ND(12), Winsconsin(7), and Penn St(27)are very comparable.
I'm not trying to argue against USC, I think that they are a strong team and deserve a shot. I am simply arguing against those who say that Michigan doesn't.

How many years have we been arguing about this? An NCAA football tournament would put to rest the controversy surrounding the crowning of a national champion. It would also be great action and great sports drama. As it is, it's pathetic sports bickering. Or am I missing something?

Yeah, I understand that the millions (billions?) of dollars keeps the bowl bonanza alive, backed by the schools and the sports media giants. But football is the only NCAA sport without a play-off tournament.

In a tournament, USC would earn a shot at OSU by playing through a legitimate play-off bracket.

My question is: what can be done to get one? What can we (the schlubs watching this mayhem) do to get one? Or do we remain the suckers who keep watching the money go by, while the championship controversy continues.

(Although, the OSU juggernaut is convincing. No, I am not a fan.)

Before the BCS, we would have the traditional Rose Bowl matchup between USC v. Ohio State. Instead, they will play in tradition-rich Glendale, Arizona, while Michigan will play an underserving Notre Dame team (again) in the Rose Bowl - a rematch nobody wants to see, as those teams play each other every year. If the BCS had any stones, they would send USC / OHST to the Rose Bowl and make it the title game!

What do you think of the atmosphere at Old Trafford on Sunday?
Man U fans say "It was electric." But Chelsea fans say "It was poor and it was them making all the noise."

It is speculated that Robinson will 'resign' and be replaced by Martin Johnson. Will they then be an unknown quantity in the Six Nations Championship? Will Ireland still be favourites?

Im still physically sick from yesterday's 21 point lead collapse.

I cant believe im saying this, but i'm impressed with the way the Cowgirls have been playing (you didnt think i'd give up the ship, did you?), the Saints are marching on, and the Bears, although they lost, are still 9-2.

Im trying to keep the faith, but damn, WHAT HAPPENED TO MY GIANTS???
Eli's playing like a high school senior, Plaxico is playing half-assed, and Shockey looks ready to demand a trade.
The injuries havent helped either, and the penalties are piling up again. Im about ready to scream......

Can anyone else believe the giants lost to the titans with only like 7 minutes to go? that must have been embarrising.

2006-11-27 00:57:07 · 13 answers · asked by Anonymous in Football (American)

Yesterday, during the Titans-Giants game, Mathias Kiwanuka had Vince Young wrapped up, with two arms around him, and was driving Young backwards.
In order to avoid a "roughing the passer" call, and in thinking Young threw the ball, Kiwinuka let Young go.
And he went! 20 yards to set up the tying TD and ultimately went on to win the game.
I think the roughing the passer thing is a little out of control, but wasnt Young "in the grasp"?? How could the ref let that one go if the rule still exists??

I wasn't expecting them to win...But just give me something to hope for...The whole thing with Braylon Edwards..The complete lack of offense production...The terrible defense...The horrible coaching..I don't think they even belong in the NFL!! I hate to say it but I think Romeo Crennel has done a very bad job as head coach..And don't give me the Cincinnati's a good team BS..I know they are but thats still no excuse..
