This was inspired by another question I saw on YA. Someone said that their biggest problem with religion, especially Christianity was that is wants ignorance rather than knowledge in a sense, and that it avoids rationality. I am a very rational person and I always think why things are the way they are...

My perfect God would not classify murder and simple lust as equal sins. My mind says one is much worse than the other, but to God it's just labeled "sin." I would want my God to accept gay people and to think about people's circumstances--we are not all perfect and there is a HUGE difference between today's world and biblical times. They just cannot be compared. But I want to be saved and I do believe Jesus is son of God.

Any thoughts, I don't really know exactly what I'm asking... so might as well provoke discussion.

Some guy tried to give me this analogy to prove the existence of God. He claimed that you can't see air but you know it is there, just like God. Maybe I can't see air, but one can certainly prove that it exists. I mean come on, they can actually synthesize the stuff in lab. We may not be able to detect air with our eyes, but we have instruments that can detect air. You can't synthesize God in a lab and no instrument in existence can be used to detect him. Sorry, another argument that fails to convince me.

No one has anymore right to promote god to me than for me to not have to hear it.
I am an athiest but do not go around promoting my views.
Is offending me (and it does) of more importance than my civil rights to lead a life free from offensive practices.
There seems to be religeous "laws" that take precedence over my personal choices.
It angers me greatly.

I`m not trying to prove a point, I want to know if this is logically consistent. If you`re a materilists then you believe that matter is the only element in living things and throughout the universe.

You think that all matter follows determinsitic natural laws therefore free will is just an illusion. There is no mind there is only the physical brain which is predetermined by genes and enviornment. We have no choice all of our actions are set in motion by the clockwork of the Universe.

If this is true, then Christians are not really superstitious and you`re not rational. Nobody can say for sure whether or not God exists because the mind is just an illusion. All thoughts are pre-determined.

If you`re a materialists then ur disbelief in God is not rationally justified. If the mind is matter and all matter is determined then you`re disbelief in God is not valid.

But by definiton of materilism in that physical matter is all there is God does not exist.

So heres what happens:

My girlfriend tells me a couple of hours after sleeping, I start sexual advances on her. Then I either wake up on top of her which is wierd, or if I don't she says I lie back down and laugh "like a maniac - something like a madman out of a horror film!". This severly freaks me out and her even more so.

This happens about 1 - 2 times a week, and what is most frightening is last night she said I started attacking her in sleep. Then I did the manic laughing again and went back to sleep. Apparantly I have my eyes open wide looking very alert at the time, but I am miles away.

She said it seems like something else has possesed me! It is freaking me out big time.

We are christians and she is orthodox, I am anglican. She thinks its evil spirits. I am western and find it hard to accept this as I am of the scientific mind and think its more likely to be something to do with my subconscious. Thoughts please?

Regardless of your beliefs around religion and religious practices—whether you beleive relgious practices are crucial to a good life, or whether organized religion is something we should all get over—take a minute to reflect what might be good about this very human endeavor

When I first heard the song 'Zombies for Jesus' around a bon-fire at a Wiccan festival, I thought it was hilarious, especially when several people got up and did the 'Zombie walk' with blank stares on their faces.

The more time I spent with Wiccan and pagan groups, the more of a rampant disdain and mockery of Christianity I noticed.

Sometimes, however, I felt this went too far. There was one mock public ritual in particular at a festival that was set up as a pagan version of the 10 commandments that truly disgusted me. The girlfriend of one of the Bards was Catholic, and she walked away in tears. She had been hesitant about attending the festival, but was assured that people of all faiths were welcome, and would be treated with respect, and viewed as equals. Most people saw nothing wrong with the parody.

So my question to Wiccans and pagans...where do you draw the line at poking fun at Christians? Under what circumstances do you feel justified and why?

into the religous mix as Athiests, well we are not for we are not none believers, we simply say that we do not know, Athiest don't believe in any type of God or supernatural being. Religous people believe there is a God.or supernatural being. Once again as an Agnostic I simply say I don't know, and it all seems kind of funny (laughable) to me. anyone like to comment on what they personally think?

Hello, all:

I've seen a couple of answers today where people have suggested that you can combine Christianity and Wicca into one religion. I personally don't see how that could happen without bending one or the other (or both) so far out of shape that the term "Christian" and/or "Wiccan" would no longer apply to the result.

What do you think about Christian Wiccans? Do they exist? Can they exist? Why or why not?

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.

How does God feel about praying to "honourable ancestors",

How does God feel about praying to Mary, the daughter of God (He always existed)???

How does God feel about praying to St Christopher and other deceased heros of the Catholic church, dubbed SAINTS?

How does God feel about us contacting the dead?

Should it be done?

How about seances and withchcraft contacts with the dead? Did you see the film :Ghost"?

What do you make of Isaiah 8: 19 and other bible verses that seem to oppose praying to mortals?

isn'r it true that no one prayed to Mary in the bible, either when she was alive, or dead!!!

So why pray to her now that she has passed over to the other side, when the veil has been ripped, allowing us access to God directly?

Do you think angels may be ghosts from our past???

Do you remember the old "Highway to Heaven" TV series, about an angel who was actually a ghost of a dead guy. Do people actually believe this is the way God works???

I know for sure that many of us have asked the same quiestions like

why were we put on the earth

were is God truly

why do we do what we do

why do we have complete control over everything, and yet nothing

why is there the balance of good and evil

why do we act bad even though we want to do good, are we provoked?

I could go on with a million or more questions, but the fact is there are billions of people on the planet, the world kepps orbiting changing dieing living, is death an act of creation, and we have all thought this question our exististance I'm sure of this but of course there are feel good answers like God is within, but what I'm trying to get to is everyone and I mean Every single Human Being on this planet has asked these same questions, dont you find that strange like were all united all our thoughts by some invisible thread, to think to be the last human on the planet wouldn't you go insane I would and I'm sure there people who agree with me.

I found this page that has a lot of reasonable ideas as to why he would be. I mean come on why wouldnt satan want a reason to push you away from the true meaning of 'CHRIST'mas. Ive been thinking this for a while and its kind of bothering me. Im not dyslexic im not on drugs and i know God is not a dog
