they have many similarities like claiming to be the only way. while fundamentalists claim to be biblical, that's because like many cults, they interpret parts of scripture in a way that supports their preconceived views such as the idea of a young earth. And many cults also have a preoccupation with benign activities like dancing or receiving a blood transfusion, which is all about gaining control.

I heard a preacher on TV say god's love is unconditional. But I am told that if I do not accept him (for lack of proof) then I will be banished to hell for eternity, Isn't that the opposite of unconditional??

where someone basicly reiterates what the bible says?

If you know how to read then you shouldn't need to go to church, unless the bible isnt 100% true and chruches are used to brainwash peopel to believe a certain way.

the whole faith thing doesn't make sense to me, was a xtian, long story short overall it didn't make sense to me, however life isn't any clearer on the other side as an atheist & agnostic.

*consciousness...really where does it come from? how can evolution explain that? It just doesn't make sense.

*the time that we live in...why here, why now, why was I born in a certain country with certain parents?

I'm open to all views.

I dont push my beliefs on anyone, but when someone on here asks a question about God, theres always people that get on here and dont even answer the question, they just make a comment of how God isnt real. I just want to know why are they so insecure they have to make other people feel bad about what they believe...?

Does it garner your respect? Are you able to overcome the barriers, or do the errors in syntax, grammer, and spelling distract you from it's content?

I'm not justifying the actions of criminals either. Hardly.
What I'm saying is that isn't it just pretending that there are no bad people int he world?
Yes we should be able to walk down the street naked but unfortunately there are bad people in the world. Yes even in the west.

I believe it is naive for a woman to dress so revealing then act surprised when she has attracted a criminal.
I think it is irresponsible for people to act like that.

I think you get my point.

The ones here who will say go to darfur then or the middle east.... get a life. Your just avoiding the question.

I'm not saying women should wear a burqa either..
Sometimes a little restraint goes a long way.

What's really hypocritical is that the hardcore Christians believe in the virgin birth, but think it would be immoral to clone or use any research that recreates embreyos without sexual intercourse (in other words a virgin birth).

So either Christians believe the birth of Jesus was immoral, or they are just plain dumb and should shut up.

When talking about embreyo's, this is the perfect time to ask: "What would Jesus do?"

I believe everything, at least the teachings in the New Testament, but the Old Testament has many of the same reasons I don't believe in other things such as the Koran
are there any other Christians like me or am I alone?
I'm very agnostic, especially when it comes to organized religion, that I believe all have truth and are all influenced by man, but I attend church every Sunday, because I do believe in God, and in the teachings of Christ, it also make my life feel better and cleaner

On each of the Prophet's birthdays, all of humankind stops at a specific time doing everything that they are doing, and through many loudspeakers and microphones, we learn about their revolutionary ideas and how they changed society, we basically learn about their ideas and what messages they taught people. All of the Prophets were true revolutionaries with great and powerful messages!

This would include a "Day Of Remembrance" for all of the Prophets and for each religion that has been created!

I can define this myself but would be interested to read how others might define this.
I don't want rants from people telling me how wrong I am, but would welcome definitions from people of any or no faith.
So..What is your definition and why?

what exactly is speaking in tounges? i think i know the jist of what it is, but never hearing it before, i honestly dont know.
my boyfreind says that i should have heard it because he has done it at church standing right next to me (he does it if he doesnt know the words to the song or what to pray) but i was worshiping the lord and blocked out everyone around me. he said he was at this one church and they had this lady who spoke in tounges and there was an interperter. how come some people can understand what the person speaking in tounges is saying and others cant?
