I heard a preacher on TV say god's love is unconditional. But I am told that if I do not accept him (for lack of proof) then I will be banished to hell for eternity, Isn't that the opposite of unconditional??

You are absolutely correct.

I would also suggest that he would not have kicked Adam and Eve out of Eden for just breaking a simple rule.

The bible, IMHO, does not know the meaning of the term Unconditional Love.

Hey!

God's love is unconditional??? I don't remember that one in the Bible...

I DO, however, remember a scripture where it says God hates what is bad. So, his love is definitely not unconditional.

I don't know why people say God's love is unconditional. It's not. But it IS unending. There's a difference.

Just try to remember that people are imperfect and say and do things that aren't right every time. Heck, I'm just as human as everyone else and I say the wrong thing here on occasion.

Or more regularly than that...

Anyway, I don't believe in hell. I just think that those who are bad at heart will cease to exist.

Luv ya,
Tashi :)

P.S. HEY! What's with the thumbs down? I SAID God's love was unending love. That means that he is willing to do ANYTHING for us. Give his only begotten son. Give us life and this beautiful planet. Give us the animals and the plants. And all the other wonderful blessings, including the Bible itself. BUT, it's not unconditional. Unconditional means that he doesn't want ANYTHING from you for his love. That's not true. He wants a good heart. If you don't have a good heart...well, he than hates you because you are what is bad. I mean, look at Proverbs 6:16-19--"There are six things that YHWH does hate, yes seven are things detestable to his soul: lofty eyes, a false tongue, and hands that are shedding innocent blood, a heart fabricating hurtful schemes, feet that are in a hurry to run to badness, a false witness that launches forth lies, and anyone sending forth contentions among brothers."

I think this is a difference between what the Church says and what God really is
P.S.
You say there is a lack of proof of God.
Have you looked?
Not just read books written by someone else or just listened to "preachers" tell you things.
Have you learned to quiet your mind?
Have you learned to be the observer?
Have you learned to focus your mind and "go deep" within?
If you haven't, then you can't say there is a "lack of proof".
No you have been TOLD there is a lack of proof.
You haven't directly experenced it.

So when you stand in that sacred place, deep within yourself and listen/feel for the presence or absence of something infinately loving and wonderful, then we can talk again.

His love is unconditional! Does no one understand this? Are you all that blind or ignorant?!? His love is unconditional, he gave you life and everything you have. he sacrificed his son so that if you believe in him all of your sins are forgiven and that you have everlasting life. What you people dont understand is that you have to work to get something. You have to believe in God to go to Heaven, if you dont believe hes not just gonna give you a free pass. Everyone only looks at the loving merciful side of God, nobody looks at the wrathful side of God. Besides none of us can truly understand the meanings or ideas behind his actions.

Life is a journey of understanding and a daily cleansing of the sinfulness that corrupts and leads astray. God is that End goal, received into the hearts and souls of the pure and good in heart mind and spirit. Conditional.

Howver I find that the most loved and cherished of Gods children are always the very same who deem themsleves unworthy of his love or court. It is inevitably the arrogant and egotistic who place themselves at his helm. Yes self discipline restraint creates for beautiful souls. But there is little more beautiful than those broken spirits with vulnerable, wounded and tendered hearts, wherein the holy spirit dwells. For them the journey is for self realisation and spiritual awakening....and finding that belief and faith sufficient to feel whole and at one with the self, and thereby humanity.

For those who preach unconditional love. Mankind is afforded as much love and rights by his creator as he is willing to accord to his fellow man...Its a good rule of thumb...
Be Much Loved.

God's love is unconditional. God's personality or actions are what is misintepreted by too many people, including the ones that say you will go to hell if..............Search beyond what you are told, this might help in getting to know God for real.

There are things that God hates, and the existence of those things in this old world makes certain that it must go. We read: “There are six things which Jehovah hateth; yea, seven which are an abomination unto him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood; a heart that deviseth wicked purposes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness that uttereth lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” (Prov. 6:16-19)
God Hates wickedness & Wicked people.

You are absolutely correct... that is a contradiction.

According to the story of the Prodigal Son, the first one is correct.

The second one comes from Paul's gospel of sacrifice for sins.... but Jesus didn't preach Paul's gospel. He preached the Kingdom Gospel.

Sound confusing?? To sort it all out, this resource explains the difference between these two gospels.

My doubts exactly; when I was a teen.

That is one of the reasons why I didn't find the Christian believes suitable for me.

I don't agree with the idea of God condemning us.

...And don't get dogged by what others tell you about God. Follow your own bliss.
