Some follow the works of Anton Lavey,(Church of Satan), which is sort of atheistic Satanism. They are thier own gods and believe that responsibility for thier lives rests solely in thier own hands. They believe in fulfillment of thier natural desires with a practical dose of responsibility.
As for theistic Satanists, they believe that Satan is humankinds actual creator, his names just been changed a few hundred times. He existed before the advent of the Judea-christian system. His first name was Enki, which meant creator. Then there is Lucifer, which means "light-bearer". Jesus is a fictitional chracter stolen from one of the many pagans, one of whom was Odin.
There are some who believe that "god" is the force inside and simply acts as a balancing factor which balances all the forces of Nature within oneself. We do not need an externalized god to worship, however the forces of Nature are external and those are what we look to for action, by putting ourselves in league with them and establishing a mutually beneficial relationship. These would be considered the forces of darkness, For no understanding has yet to shed "light" upon them.
Satan is one of those forces, and there are many others called by various names.

Satan represents, lust, life and death, strength, purification, justice. His element is fire, his cardinal point is south. He is the beginning, the first gate.

Lucifer represents wisdom, enlightenment, knowledge. The ability to see all things as their true Nature dictacted them to be. His element is air, his cardinal point is the east. He is the bearer of enlightenment and therefore the second gate.

Belial represents responsibility, accountability, self-empowerment. Sustanance. His element is earth and his cardinal point is north. He is solidity and is the third gate.

Leviathan respresents ritual ceremony and Magick, the ability to change things that would normally be unchangeable. His element is water and his cardinal point is west. He is magick and the fourth gate.

We do stand against the christian god, for to us he as an invention is the true harbinger of evil and responsible for man's woes.
Thre is no devil except in christianity. they didn't like the original "pagan" gods and so turned them into demons.
The only ones that worship the devil are confused angst people who know nothing of Satanism. They get their information from the bible and because of personal problems conform to that way of thinking.
Honestly, I wish people would get their heads out of those stupid religious texts and start looking at the world for what it truly it is.Satan never needed a textbook for what we believe simply comes natural. To act according to one's Nature.
We don't hurt animals or children, we worship them as beings of complete Nature, unsullied by the likes of so-called "enlightened people".
One thing all Satanist have in common is that we strive to better ourselves through acknowledging our true Nature's. We are individuals and proud of it. We abhor self-denial and self-deciet.

feel free to e-mail me and I will give you my take on it, as well as the ideas of others that are different than me. We should all be heard, and not all lumped together into one category.

Oh, and we don't "give up" our souls to anything. If there is a soul, that's debateable, we ultimately go where we want when we die, that's for those of us who believe that energy cannot die, only be transformed.
Selling your soul to the devil is a ludicrous christian concept to once again put fear into their followers.

No. A "devil" worshipper is a member of the Abrahamic religions. They choose to worship their Satan or Devil instead of the Jewish/Muslim/Christian God. A Satanist most often is an atheist who believes in the power of humankind.

if you are talking about the EXTREMELY rare thiestitic satanist, then yes.

if you are talking about the more popular brand of satanism. athiestic satanism, also known as levay satanists, named after anton levay, the man who wrote the satanist bible, well then the answer is no.

satanists do not worship satan, they do not sacrifice animals or humans, and they are usually ok people to be around if you like to think for yourself.

No. Satanists in the west do not actually worship 'the devil'. It's a metaphor for rejection of baseless external authoritative claims, nothing more.

No.

Theistic Satanism is when you 'actually' worship the devil.
