Speaking as a Christian, at heart, I see myself in Paul's lament in Romans 7. I don't do the good I want to do, instead, sin lies close at hand. (This goes to the sinfulness of human nature.)

What's the big picture? I know that I was born tainted with original sin, am a sinner now, add to my sin daily, and cannot disentangle myself from a life of sin. That is why I need salvation through Jesus Christ. ("While I was still a sinner, Christ died for me." Rom 5:8, see source). Now that I am saved, I seek to live fully for Him out of Thankfulness for His free gift of salvation.

So, I don't think the idea and belief of Christianity is hypocritical. The parts of the Bible agree and all fit together into a whole.

Now, can individual people, who go to church, profess a faith, and claim to follow God, be hypocritical? Absolutely! Jesus often called the religious leaders of His time hypocritical. Today is no different. There are people who say: "Lord. Lord" yet will not go to heaven (Matt 7:21,22). Likewise in any church there are "Wolves in sheeps clothing" (Acts 20:28-30). And there are many "white washed cups", and "tares among the wheat" who seem pure on the outside, but it all a veneer.

Don't give up, search out a place where God's Word is preached, the two sacraments are administered biblically, and church discipline is practiced faithfully, also against hypocrites. When you find that, cherish it, and help it grow! I hope this helps!

Rampant hypocrisy is not something I have ever found amonst religions. It is invariably our lack of understanding or guidance, or a state of disillusionment at some preconceived notion, or a dissappointment in one in whom we had placed our faith and belief. False clergy or renowened persons depicted as virtuous and then having found to be entirely ignoble, immoral or having traits that are decidedly ungodly, inhumane or lacking in spirit....are very dangerous because they destroy the belief, and thereby souls, of those tendered and supplicated pilgrims on the path.

This is why public figures, or celebrities when found to be less than the celestial depictions of superior beings are hammered and destroyed in the way that the vulnerable and tender souls who believed in them were.

Solution - Believe in yourself. When you arise in themorn, look at yourself in the miror. Evaluate yourself iif you find th ereflection less than adoration worthy, then ask why, reason how you could make improvements to that beautiful vessel of god or goodness that stares back at you....embark upon a journey to the self. When you gain self realisation, you will in turn understand better they around you, making life absolutely better or at least more bearable. Start today.

Loving yourself unconditionally is a nonsense. Learn of yourself, write down your good and bad aspect and nect to the bad, write three paths of improvement. Be loved Be Happy, Have a Wonderful New Year.
