It depends on what you consider to be "biblical". There is much new evidence that supports women being the majority of church leaders and ministers shortly after Christ's death, but this was swept under the carpet for centuries to help government propagate the oppression of women. i highly recommend reading up on Mary Magdalene and the true early history of women in Christianity. You'll be surprised at what you discover.

Responses and attitudes like Posty's is exactly why I and many other women have nothing to do with Christian churches in general. I have to wonder how God will feel about how many souls of women out there that were driven away from Christ's message because of this...I know I wouldn't want it resting on my head.

The power of woman, is to empower and create great, strong and wise men. If a woman is that notable and supreme in wisdom and sense, then she should through the application of those womanly virtues have around her the most perfect candidates for clergy, leadership or heads.

Alas it is the enemy of man who place themselves over and thereby subordinate mankind.

There is an abounding rumour of Jesus loathing his mother and brothers.. I would presume that it arose because Jesus as the spirit of God loved being around Godly and good souls. However his immediate brethren became ambitious and begrudged and evied him the adulation and success. Some say Mary conspired with Judas to betray him. Hence that statement at point of death regarding the mother and son charading at his cross...just a theory but worthy of consideration....

Are men the spiritual head of women? No, of course not, Jesus is...
In the government of the HOME, the husband is the head. In the government of the church, Jesus is the head and men and WOMEN are the body of Christ.
When it comes to the body of Christ, men and women are equal. Both men and women were in the upper room on the day of pentecost. The Holy Spirit was sent to give them power to witness or preach. If women were not to preach, why were they up there?

I am not aware of anything in the Bible that would support this notion.
