I know I'm a day late, but to all you Christians out there who want to put christ back in christmas, here's an article you may want to read.... and it's from a CHRISTIAN website! (Yes, we atheists read the bible....which is probably why we think it's bs)
http://www.realtruth.org/articles/461-actc.html

My question is, Why put christ into a holiday that was never his to begin with?

Sin is what caused nakedness to become a problem. Sin introduced lust, immorality, and perversion into the human race. As a result, we can no longer look at a nude person of the opposite sex in a pure manner. God made clothing for Adam and Eve to resolve this problem.

If this is true, what about the many tribes in Africa, that are freely naked, and view one another in a pure manner?

If this is true, why do psychologists state the the shame of nudity is environmentally and society-learned and humans that were tested at a young age to adult hood within cultures where nudity was ok, stated that there were no second thinking about nudity

Doesnt this contradict the whole theory of nudity in the bible?

I have mixed feelings about it, since it means drinking, good food and presents, but I worry about others who do these things in excess. The Mastercard and Visa is hot for the next year or two!!

But Jesus Himself said that we are not to add or take away from the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation is complete. Why would He send another prophet, He Himself was the ultimate sacrifice. You cannot top it. Before Jesus died on the cross, He said it is complete, my work is done. There is absolutely no reason to send another message or prophet. You need to read the Bible. Maybe then we can talk about fulfilled prophecies.

In other words: non-Christians feel bombarded with hypocritical Christians who accuse them, judge them, and condemn them for all of their “sins”.

All with the horrific and ominous threat of “hell” that inevitably awaits such “sinners”.

Does this sound like “good news” to you???

-
And if a Christian’s chief responsibility to the rest of the world is to proclaim the Gospel of the GRACE of the Lord Jesus Christ, then why is it overwhelmingly true that the non-Christian’s perspective of the basic message of Christianity the exact opposite? That is, seen as "bad news" rather than the good news that it is?

Buddhism believes in soul-migration (or sometimes mistakenly called reincarnation). If we look at all beings;
- There are 6.500.000.000 people on this earth,
- Tens of billions are large and medium sized animals,
- Hundreds of Trillions small animals, like worms and flies.
The ratio "human : animal" is uttely small.
It'd take millions of years for a animal to reincarnate into a human.
1) Isn't the suffering of an animal disproportionally great (in terms of time)?
2) If the true nature of the universe is emptiness, why is there even life at all? Did life came from nothing with as goal to achieve nothing?
3) Why does a "fair" theory like reincarnation sounds so "unfair" to me? Look at a duck with the idea that the poor animal must reincarnate the coming million years full of suffering...

I hope that someone who knows about Buddhism can give me his/her opinion on this.

Personally, I think religion and science can get along just fine... at least they do in my small brain.

I'm appalled at what I've seen from believers in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, to Intelligent Design.

Science is a different approach to finding truth than faith.... different, but why are both sides often seemingly trying to prove the other side wrong?

To me it seems to go against the edicts of both religion in general, and the scientific method.

You can't really prove religion is true or false, so why try? They aren't built on the same basis. God gave us reason - therefore we should use it. However, can't people that decide to ONLY use science as a means of their personal beliefs be open enough to allow for others to believe as they wish without thinking they are ignorant? Science should always be open to anything - so should religion in my mind. Let's stop closing doors.

Sorry - lots of questions here - Personally, when I get to heaven, I'm going to ask about the dinosaurs.

This Resolution was about Recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith.

It reads: Whereas Christmas, a holiday of great significance to Americans and many other cultures and nationalities, is celebrated annually by Christians throughout the United States and the world;

Whereas there are approximately 225,000,000 Christians in the United States, making Christianity the religion of over three-fourths of the American population;

Whereas there are approximately 2,000,000,000 Christians throughout the world, making Christianity the largest religion in the world and the religion of about one-third of the world population;

It originally included this text: Whereas identify themselves as those who believe in the salvation from sin offered to them through the sacrifice of their savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and who, out of gratitude for the gift of salvation, commit themselves to living their lives in accordance with with the teachings of the Holy Bible.

I heard that the date of December 25th doesn't actually correspond to Jesus. The dates of the year are different?

I also heard that it wasn't celebrated in terms of gift exchange until the development of capitalism and corporations? What was Christmas like during 1 A.D.?

The athiest who denies God's existence to the bitter end, refusing to ask for forgiveness at the last minute?/

Or the weasel who changes his mind, at the last second before dying, asking for a priest and forgiveness, thinking, "We'll, they said all I have to do is accept Jesus into my heart and I can go to heaven."

Christians, does it say ANYWHERE in your Bible that your god doesn't lie? And if it does, could even THAT be a lie!?

Why/why not? Could your god be lying about eternal torment just to drive more to himself?

God murders, judges, covets, is jealous, is vengeful, etc...so if he does and is all these other things he forbids us, could he not also lie and still be perfect? Do you have the strength of character to admit that you really don't know?

1) When was the first bible created? How did the bible consolidate centuries of God's word together? Through voting? meetings? or just merely joining books together?
Furthermore, how can one manage to write everything about another person, even his darkest secrets in the bible when the author is not that person?

2) How did the people from the past know how they were "created" and wrote it down in the book of genesis? Who wrote the book of genesis? Is it adam or eve?

3) Are there passages or books that contridict each other?
I assumed that the qoutes with " " in the bible are words from God. If so, does that mean that the qoutes are divine, true and do not contridict, while the rest of the bible- we have to read it with care?

Please state whether you are a christian or non-christian. If possible, please include the source where you get your information from.

Thank You.

Jesus says we are supposed to not just give what we can, but give everything to those in need and we will ultimately be rewarded in heaven. However, I definately struggle with this. As a single mom-to-be I just cannot bring myself to giving out a few dollars to every person who asks...especially when I often feel it will be going towards unproductive things like drugs and alcohol.

How do other people deal with this? Do you just deal with the guilt or actually give?

Now atheists build their homes on the shifting sand... as science and humanism ebbs and flows, what will keep their home from becoming anything more than debris on the dunes?
