Christians, does it say ANYWHERE in your Bible that your god doesn't lie? And if it does, could even THAT be a lie!?

Why/why not? Could your god be lying about eternal torment just to drive more to himself?

God murders, judges, covets, is jealous, is vengeful, etc...so if he does and is all these other things he forbids us, could he not also lie and still be perfect? Do you have the strength of character to admit that you really don't know?

If he lies he lies perfectly or something like that. Anything god does is considered "good" by christians no matter how atrocious the act.

yea sure. we all know that it could be a lie. honestly, from my viewpoint though, what's the harm. god doesn't kill, the things he inadvertently created did. god judges, but he judges us on what we have done, so technically we have brought about our own fate. also, what's the harm in worshiping him when all he stands for is the good in the world. i can't think of one thing i believe in that does any harm to anyone(and don't fight that argument b/c there are a lot of lies about what the pope has done that aren't true. i can't tell u how many times i've heard that he actually stated in a document that people of other religions can't live a happy afterlife in heaven.) also, god represents peace, love, unification. even if god is completely evil, he isn't actually affecting what we do with his power. we're still spreading hope that the world will be a peaceful place and helping make it that way. also, the "lie" to adam and eve was not a lie. imagine if the person who you most had the power of god. life would not exist because everything would be chaotic. he does everything for our own good. God DIDN'T lie-adam and eve's souls were forever changed, therefore i think their souls died. but how your question is relevant to the world around us is my question, because if he's lying about being good and we're following the lie, is it bad that we still love people and care about everyone and everything. i see no harm in this.

god isn't vengeful also. i'm sorry this took so long to explain, but honestly, as much as none of us know what's really going on we don't know about, god's image represents good, not evil. he doesn't represent evil, therefore he isn't vengeful, a murderer, or someone who covets things. there is no place in the bible where he came down from heaven and killed someone.

and he is prefect. if you're talking about an imperfect power, it is not God.

Num 23:19 "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Titus 1:2 "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;" Hebrews 6:18 " That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, ..." 1 John 2:21 "I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth." Rev 21:27 "And there shall in no wise enter into it (the New Jerusalem) any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life." Rev 22:15 " For without (the New Jerusalem) are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."

The Almighty cannot lie, for He speaks things into existence. When He says let there be light, light is created. When He says You are righteous, you become righteous. There is no eternal torment. The lake of fire destroys sins and sinners, so YAHOSHUA can make all things new. It is easy to misunderstand scripture, and most people have. Wide is the way that leads to destruction.

To say that God cannot lie limits him, making him no longer omnipotent.

Hence, he is no longer God.

Therefore, God CAN lie.

And with that, no, its not okay for a God to lie, because it is called hypocrisy, something that common sense shows is not a good thing.

No God does not lie. if he said it was red, even if it was black, it would become red. get the picture. And btw it is not murder to brake the pot you have formed to make a new pot. What right does the pot have to say to the potter, don't do this?

I guess it would be OK for God to lie if it were possible. BUT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. God cannot go against His own nature to sin.

God doesn't make mistakes. we do.

God does none of the above. we do. it's called taking responsibility for OUR wrongs.

if i pushed my nephew in front of a car it would be God's fault or mine?
