This question has been asked many times on this board. If you look through the questions, I am sure you will find the answers. But, in case you don't feel like doing the research, I will give you an answer.

Mormons are actually members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and we believe in God the Eternal Father, in his Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. We believe the Bible to be the Word of God, and we believe the Book of Mormon to also be the Word of God. We believe that all mankind are sons and daughters of God, and that we have been born into this world to gain a body, and that this life is a test to see if we will choose God or Satan. We believe that we will eventually return to live with our Father in Heaven if we make the right choices. We believe in families, and encourage all the members of the Church to reserve Monday nights as their family night. On Mondays we turn off the TV and phone and sit down together to do something as a family. We are a missionary church, and we believe that every member is a missionary. We believe that marriage is an institution, ordained by God, that is reserved for one man and one woman. We do not practice polygamy. We believe in modern day revelation, and that God has a prophet on this earth today. That prophet is Gordon B. Hinckley. When he dies, there will be another prophet called to take his place.

We believe that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers, the same as all mankind are brothers and sisters, and children of God. We do believe that Adam is the Archangel Michael, and that Noah is the Angel Gabriel. These are the ones that I know. We believe that Jesus is the Jehovah of the Old Testament.

We believe that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, and that God spoke to him. We believe that through the power of God Joseph Smith translated the Gold Plates, and that is how we got the Book of Mormon.

What do I do with my time? Well, I take care of my husband and my house. I watch TV, read books, write letters, surf the internet. I also read the Bible, prepare the lesson for the class I teach at Church. I talk to my adult children, and play with my grandson. I also like shopping and watching movies. Is that any different from what you do with your time?

All are welcome at our Sunday meetings, so please take the time to visit our local meetinghouse this Sunday.

You've gotten plenty of good answers. I see that the 13 articles of faith are well covered. Let me make it a little more personal.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I personally believe all the things listed in the articles of faith. I have been a member of the church all my life, but I have not simply believed all the things that my parents taught me. The church leaders encourage us to ask questions because they know that those questions can be answered. I have discovered for myself that Heavenly Father loves me, Jesus is the Savior of the world, I am a child of God, and the Lord has the power to save me. I can return to live with my Heavenly Father after this life. Should my parents, my church leaders, my husband, or anyone else suddenly renounce the faith, I would not falter, because I know.

Our loving Heavenly Father has provided us with a tool to find truth. It is the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit. When we hear truth we can recognize it because the Lord will send his Spirit to touch our hearts. In Galatians 5:22 the apostle Paul teaches us that the feelings (fruit) of the Spirit are "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance." Perhaps you have felt these feelings at times when you are surrounded by your family, reading the word of God, or listening to a religious message. If you want to know what is truth, listen to your heart's feelings. When you feel the peace of God, you will know that you have found the truth.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) is a beautiful Christian religion. Because Mormons believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ and consider Him to be the way to salvation, they are clearly a Christian denomination. It is true that they are not an orthodox denomination (they are neither Protestant, Catholic, nor Eastern Orthodox), because they don't accept the post-New Testament creeds, but their Christ-centered theology clearly qualifies them for the Christian label.

You should be extremely careful when trying to learn about Mormons from others. There are many who hate the Mormons and spread lies, distortions, and conspiracy theories about them. Others think they understand Mormon doctrine because of "what they've heard," but are actually misinformed.

Because Mormons are Christian, we believe in most of the things that Christians believe, including:

1) Christ is divine and salvation comes only through Him.
2) The Bible is the word of God.
3) Men ought to love one another.

Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity, however. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through a man named Joseph Smith.

Here is a brief summary of our belifs. Joseph Smith wrote this in response to a similar question asked by a newspaper reporter in his day. It is called the "Thirteen Articles of Faith

1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.

3. We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

A Mormon is someone who is a member of 100+ sects within the Mormon denomination. The largest Mormon sect (and the one most people think of when they hear the word Mormon) is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mormonism was founded by Joseph Smith, Jr, in 1830. In 1842, John Wentworth asked Joseph the basic tenets of Mormonism, and what makes Mormonism unique. Joseph responded in what is now known as the Wentworth letter (published in the Chicago Democrat). Included where thirteen concise fundamental doctrines - known among LdS as the Thirteen Articles of Faith.

What do we do with our time? Do you mean on Sundays or any day of the week?
Weekdays I get up in the morning, shower and dress, eat breakfast, pray or read scriptures then or later on at night, depending on individual preference, go to work, come home, etc. On Sundays we go to church for 3 hours, which is divided into 3 meetings, with separate classes. Sacrament meeting is with everyone together, then there is Sunday School for everyone, or Primary for children, or Young Men's and Young Women's for teenagers, and also Relief Society for the women, and Priesthood meeting for the men. We go to movies and shop on weekdays, but we do our best to honor to Sabbath day, so on Sundays my family is more likely to spend it at home, or going to visit my dad, who is temporarily in a nursing home. I used to visit my grandparents every Sunday until all of them died over the past 2 years. I try to read more religious books on Sundays, although I will watch family-oriented movies and shows as well. I also work on creative stuff like plays, music, poetry, etc.
