I have been looking into christianity for sometime now, but recently due to the exposure of some famous televangelists my faith was shook to to the core. If these men and women of God who I looked up to were not living by Gods word, what's to say that God is even real?
That was my initial thought.

Then I began looking into buddhist teachings and have to say that I found them really insightful and more easy to understand than a lot of text in the bible and have found them really helpful in my life.
My question is, do you think Buddhism contradicts someone pursuing Christianity. Can they work hand in hand or are the teachings too different to work together.

My question was misunderstood I didn't mean God would let people in who love sin. Neither does he "Throw people into Hell as a punishment"............http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiU.r410wsRKko7avr0OLuzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071211060952AA7Kdfj

If you wish someone a "Merry Christmas" you're being a culturally insensitive bigot. It's that simple. Do you agree?

Apparently yesterday some people assumed that the shooter in Colorado must have been an atheist and today it was revealed that he was not. Already in the five minutes I’ve been lurking around R&S this morning I’ve seen at least four posts demanding an apology for this.

Do you honestly think you are owed an apology because some people who are probably not that smart to begin with slighted you (and even you personally) on an internet question and answer board which is typically full of nothing but petty arguments anyway?

People are dead in this situation, there are people who have lost loved ones and will never get them back. Regardless of his religion, the fact of the matter is this man killed people and now they’re gone. And yet somehow people here think they are the ones who deserve an apology.

Please tell me someone else out there thinks this is just as ridiculous and yes, just as wrong as I do.

I just saw this movie and it really seems to say that the Catholic Church wants to rob the souls of the young before they have learned to think intelligently and independently. Do you think the writer of the books is correct about this?

"What man is God once was, what God is man can become?" Not mocking just trying to clarify some things I had heard. This is your chance to correct a misunderstanding.

ok, so someone just tried to "prove" gods existence with the same old and tired entropy argument...namely that the universe is winding down, that things of their own nature lose energy over time and eventually become inert, etc.

lets just suppose then that some divine force did have to set all these things in motion, and that these same laws that apply to the universe do not apply to this divine source.

can anyone explain to me how this then proves the existence of any ONE god, goddess, or group of gods/goddesses? and why do the people that offer this drivel immediately make the assumption that this proves the existence of their singular and particular god?

I know the premise of the holiday, but would like to hear details about how Yule is actually celebrated--rituals, traditions, etc. How do I as a non-pagan give a holiday greeting to someone celebrating Yule or otherwise acknowledge their holiday? For example, if I am invited into their home during Yule, should I have a certain greeting or bring something or what? Thank you for all real answers.

Imagine you have a family, 4 beautiful children who want to take your advice because you are truly a loving parent and you have built a home for them safe and secure where no rapists, liars, thieves or murderers can get in, no abusers allowed to touch them and they enjoy life and light and abundant happiness and Joy .........now..........you are a very fair and loving person and someone knocks on your door and begs you to let them live with you because they are scared (there are gangs and violence in the streets and there is no safe place for this person to be) and that person says "can I be in your family I'm a good person?" and you have millions and can afford to take them in so you do. they begin to beat and rape your daughters because when you tell them the rules of your house they say "you aren't the boss of me I can do what I want'.........would you let them live there? This is the concept of what Jesus is saying about Heaven.......he's not chasing people down to punish them "K?

Why or why not, and what religion are you?

I myself am an atheist and I don't fear death (as I have come very close to it many times), but I do hope that it does not come for a long, long time. I still hope to experience so much that this world has to offer.
