I don't think enough humans aspire for greater heights. I have seen people drop out of high school months before graduation. I have seen people with degrees waste them being a server for a catering hall. I have been told by several people my dreams are out of reach and I need to come to the realization that I will not reach them no matter how hard I try so I should just give up.

This is the drive to transcend our material and physical limitations and seek truth, both outer and inner truth. Both internal and external, it drives us from inside, and from the outside it attracts us to ever-excel and exceed what we have already done or have come to understand. On the one hand, we can say this drive has evolved. On the other, we can say that it is the divine standing within and without us.

How to nurture, protect and channel this drive is another question, as it can easily be sidetracked from truth-serving to self-serving.

Because aspiring to greater heights sure beats sitting in front of a t.v. all day, drinking beer and eating Ding Dongs ....

Although Agnostic, this is one of the issues that makes me think there could be something more than what we just see in front of us. So yes, I certainly wonder why we have an inner drive.

I think the need to prove yourself and belong is just born within us that we cannot help but strive to be the best we can be... Humans are probably the most fascinating as well the most simple at different times...

I've never wondered about it.....it's just the way we're made.

I guess it's because once you're satisfied you languish and die.
