for any reason other than fear (of hell, death, Satan etc.)?

There were solid churches all over the empire and beyond. So even if there was a Pope and center of Christianity (neither of which is taught in New Testament anywhere) why this particular geographical location.

Peter preached to the Jews in Palestine.
Paul did not come there until 60 A.D. and only then under arrest.
The Jewish Elders of the city in 60 A.D. had not heard the whole story about Christianity - which proves by itself that Peter was never there before 60 A.D. and certainly did not preach and perform miracles there for 25 years.

The other churches were older, larger, and had Apostles coming and going in them.

Emperor Constantine did not convene the official first meeting of his Catholic Church in Rome.
The Roman Bishop did not attend in 325 A.D.
He is not referred to or deferred to in any documents from that time whatsoever.

By the way, what was the Eastern Empire Emperor doing presiding a meeting if the Pope's office existed and was acknowledged?

I feel like I have completely lost my faith in Christ as Saviour of my life. I pray just because i feel like I am supposed to. And not signifigant prayers either, but the little self serving prayers like "Oh God help me here." I have read the Bible maybe once on my own in the last year.to try and have any sort of relationship with God. I know that I am saved, but I feel like the seed planted on rocky soil. When I first became a Christian, 7 years ago, I read the bible every day like 2x a day. Now I read it at church. I am depressed, I have lost my joy, and I am starting to live like I used to before I was saved. I just feel like I am too bad for God to help me. I have thought about suicide lately. I have zero self control, except when it comes to cheating on my wife, but I still look at chicks with lust in my heart, which is the same thing. I don't know when to rely upon self control or when to rely on God, (the Bible says both). Any Scriptural Help Please? I want a dynamic

From what I see here, there are some people that exert an unusual amount of energy trying bust it down.

Now, there are some religions that I myself don't entirely agree with, but I respect those religions for what good things that they may offer, and I think that the people who follow them are good people. I even sympathize with people who profess no belief in God at all. I can respect them. THey have to right to their belief.

But I don't understand the lengths that some people go to to prove "Mormonism" wrong. So, you don't like it, don't want to be a part of it, and may not like the people involved in (for whatever reason) But if it doesn't harm you, personally, what does it benefit you to bust on it?

Hello, all:

I came across a discussion about this on a LiveJournal community recently, and it was interesting enough that I thought I'd bring it here.

As a Wiccan, what is your attitude toward people with mental and emotional illnesses? Would you be comfortable working with them in circle? How about in an initiatory Tradition? Can a mentally/emotionally ill person, even if their condition is being controlled by medication, function effectively as a Wiccan in a group situation?

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.

According to the Bible, eating from the forbidden fruit brought forth death. Yet, we could not have been tempted if we had been pure at heart. So was not sin part of the equation of life, and the thing that bothered God was that we had learned of it's existence.
Thus, proving the Bible is the origin of sin. Without it, people would be innocent.

All criticism of the Church by members is not believed; first, you shouldn't mention anything negative, and second, it's probably a demon that causing your disturbing lack of faith. So, what is "success"?

If we all got together in the name of the Lord with a huge fundraiser to stop world hunger, would you join us by shaking your booty? I mean, REALLY shake it? I'm thinking of a internationally televised event where Christian babes and dudes would offer up their best booty dance and viewers all over the world would vote for their favorite booty by phoning in donations in the name of that booty. The booty with the biggest donation wins!

I like most Catholics want to laugh when Protestants claim that Catholics worship statues. To a Catholic that is pure nonsense and ignorance. The thing is that we Catholics actually agree with Protestants that idolatry is condemned. However, what Catholics realize and Protestants fail to understand, perhaps because of their hatred for anything Catholic, is that God does not prohibit religious images.....

I was walking past his bowl and looked at him. Suddenly two arms and legs popped out and he leaped out of his bowl. He's sitting in my chair, eating my pretzels and drinking my root beer watching the movie Jaws, over and over. I told him I want to watch my favorited TV show, Going Fishing TV and he got very mean!

He said he won't leave until his girl friend (my pet monkey) evolves into a beautiful 6 foot blonde. I told him that she most likely won't be blonde and it could take 4.5 million years. He said he will wait. What can I do, he's taking over my home, someone HELP! What should I do?

"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." James 1:27

And please don't tell me how weak we are, or that no one is perfect. I know that already.

Act of faith or act of suicide?

2007-11-29 13:01:03 · 14 answers · asked by Anonymous

How do you distinguish between imagination and revelation? Think about it. If it feels right? If you are in prayer? If it's a 'miracle' or something 'supernatural' ? How do you know you aren't just living in imagination? Religion can be reasoned to a certain degree. Most will say religion cannot be reasoned but I disagree. There is probably a God, but He is still a mystery. The whole story of the torture-god needing blood money so he commits suicide/kills his son whatever so his thirst is quenched is just bizarre. 2000 years from now do you think your religions will be in English texts along with Zeus?
