To a point, and in my own way. But not ( as an adult) out of fear.Living alone and far from family, the advantages of being close to those I trust and can count on are obvious. More than anything I suppose I am poly religious or spiritual. Like Stephen Hawking, I believe that we humans and all of nature are part and parcel of the Creator.I find that among other avatars Jesus Christ sets a positive example for us to emulate. The Golden Rule works for me, as does supporting and not judging others. The rest, in my opinion, is not worth fighting or killing over.

There was the Jewish faith, which came by Abraham and his wife having their long awaited son Isaac.
Then there is the arabic
religion which became the
Muslim religion (I think).
Abraham was also the father
of this boy (I can't find his name.) Anyhow, Abraham's wife Sarah would not wait for
God to give her a child, so she ordered her maidservant
Hagar to sleep with Abraham,
which she did, and gave
Abraham his first child-altho
it was not by marriage.
You must go to Genesis 20
yourself and read it...it is too long for here.
So Abraham's first-born son
began the muslim faith (he was caste out to the arabic
countries).
then we have Christianity,
which is of Jesus (a Jew)
a child of the Abrahamic faith.
so why aren't we Jews instead of Christians?. Because the Jews of that day
did not believe that Jesus was
the Messiah sent from God...
they still don't.

Fear wasn't ever a part of the presentation for me. Mostly trying to live a Christ-like life was stressed. That and helping the less fortunate. I didn't even hear about the concept of hell until I went to a Baptist Bible school. (my parents thought I should be exposed to a bit of everything) I guess I accepted it as a model of the way to live ones life--striving to be the best one can be and to help others.

You are correct. It is "fear" but you and i dont share the same definition for "fear"
i am christian and i fear God (not hell, death or satan etc). In fearing God (Creator of all that is, seen and unseen) i accept their is nothing to fear about hell, death and that fool Satan etc
In fearing God, i acknowledge His right in creating me, i acknowledge His right to take back what is His, i acknowledge His Love for humankind, i acknowlege His Love is personal, I acknowledge He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to redeem us, i acknowledge that He keeps His promises, I acknowledge His Power and His Might Works, I acknowlegde He is Who He says He is and i believe Him and love Him back because thats what He wants of me
Fearing God without loving Him is paranoia

I have - more of wanting to feel God than out of fear of Him. In the end, however, I always ended up asking troubling questions of the religion. Which is why I now find myself an Agnostic / Buddhist.

Lots of people. I come from a very Christian family, and they never talk about hell or Satan. They love God and Jesus and feel that God and Jesus love them.

My father did, but he actually LIVED the love of Jesus as he saw it and was actually a Orthodox Christian priest. I never saw actions from him that looked like they were out of fear.
