My opinion only: Yes, I know the odds are I am just as wrong as I think they are. But since you asked....

I think that they were taught that some other, false, man-made god is the real God of all creation. When they look for God, they're looking for the wrong things.

In my culture it is a common mistake to assume that the puppet god that Jerry Falwell and Bill O'Reilly serve is the God that Jesus taught about. They intuit that that god is man-made and nothing but an idol made up by men to promote their own agendas.

They were told that the little puppet god was magic and could see the future and had already decided what shirt they were going to wear tomorrow, and wrote the Bible personally, etc. etc.

Of course they can recognize a fairy tale when they see one, but that's all they know about God.

So if they ask me I tell them what I think, but if they don't, I keep my stuff to myself.

First off, I only _think_ I know. I could very well be mistaken.

But if I were to presume that I am right about my beliefs, the errors of those who don't agree with my version of them would be that

1. They take the Bible too literally and read it before they are old enough and educated enough to look at it objectively..
2. They anthropomorphize Good too much
3. They don't simplify God enough.
4. They let too much religion into their faith. I think they should discard all trappings of religion, even the ones they hold most dear, and stick to the essential, which is God.

I have nothing against any belief, I only find fault with the embodiment in humankind. All beliefs fall short of the glory of knowledge. The truth does not/cannot lie.

I know truth.

Linz,

Your logic is flawed. If you are trying to say that "you" don't know God you are spot on, but you know nothing about disbelief. Disbelief cannot be trusted either. Beliefs are fragile. People who cherish the (dis)beliefs get their feelings hurt. Those that know truth see truth in all things, even within distrust. Distrust is absolutely perfect for rejecting lies. Belief is about as good as disbelief, but distrust is as great as truth. Distrust is necessary for determining truth, but beware of distrust without truth, because that's paranoia.

At least you admitted that they act like they know God.

Can you be sure that God does not influence your thoughts and speak through you?

People have got to stop slandering Thomas Jefferson. He was not atheist. Within that quote posted, what do you suppose that he was referring to by "absolutely beyond the comprehension of the human mind"? I reject dogma myself.
The truth is so much greater than any belief. People do not trust beliefs they trust the truth.

Atheist's idolize Thomas Jefferson so much because he spoke of the absolute truth of God, incorruptible, inalienable, indivisible truth. Never a God antagonist.

they haven't accepted the TRUTH, which is JESUS CHRIST.
JESUS is love and the mistake is that most people try to fit GOD in this little box of what we think HE is supposed to be. GOD is not created by people but the Creator of people.
Admit you are a sinner
Believe that JESUS is GOD son that came to die for you to defeat sin, death, hell, and satan by resurecting
Confess your sins to HIM and ask HIM for forgivness and you will have it.
It is a beautiful thing. GOD gave us free will to do as we please because HE loves us and wants us to love HIM freely without being made to because HE doesn't want a bunch of robots but willing servants to do HIS will which can never bring harm because HE knows everything and loves us without measure so HE would never make us do anything that would harm us because HE is always there watching, waiting, and loving us more than we can fathom.
So the choice is up to you: Heaven or hell, Life or death, GOD or satan?
Believe me only one of the above loves you

GOD bless

I don't expect everyone to believe exactly like I do...as if! I do expect people to believe in God and accept Jesus Christ - after that, let's take off the gloves and argue all the way to the pearly gates!

People are raised with different backgrounds and were taught different things. They believe the way they were taught to believe. I believe that when you are old enough to think for yourself...God will intervine and draw you to Him. Then you will have the choice to either accept or reject Him...if you accept Him, there is much to be learned about Him....and if you reject Him you will learn the hard way.

There is usually not a problem at all, but rather, differences in opinions, prespectives and experiences.

Even though we walk through the same world, we each see it with our eyes only..........

People who don't believe like me are, I think, failing to apply logical reasoning in one aspect of their lives.

But I don't really give a damn unless it affects my life in some tangible way. If you want to worship Snorf, go ahead. But once you want to forbid working on Snorfmas, you have an enemy in me.

They probably have no problem as a person, they just chose to believe differently.

No problem. Just a different opinion. That's just life.
