The fact you do not believe in a higher being is not a reason, because you still have the belief there is NO God...so it's still a belief system.

Also, most(if not all) Atheists believe in Evolution, so that could also be a belief system for the religion...

It's considered a reigion by the US Supreme Court...why not just come up with a unified statement like "Atheists believe in Evolution and that there is no God and that Christians are stupid."?

Then you can all stand together with one voice...I think it would be a great rally call for Atheists, that way they can talk to people who have the same beliefs, or non-beliefs, and don't have to worry about us fundies always getting on to them about how they're going to burn in Hell and we wont be able to force our belief on you...hmmmmm....

Because I'm definitely critical of some gods more than others...

Not that I am against the followers of any gods or want to tell people what to believe. But I'm much more critical of the Abrahamic god (as described in the Bible) than I am of the Hindu or Pagan gods. (Some of whom I actually like and respect, even if I think they are just stories/archetypes.)

Is it literary bias or do I need to go back ot Atheist Bootcamp?

coins, chariots, horses, white people, black people, huge battles, all of those real events right? large events supported by large cities right? and gold plates burried right? a few paper afidavits and that's it right? What's the spin, what's the hope. Who's sweating this one, whos working overtime to make sure the Book of Mormon doesn't become a comic book. For real...I'm not perfect. I'm just a person asking for answers the best way I know how.

How do you envision GOD?

Believers see GOD in a Nebula in the Brightest Morning Star we see him in his creation...

We see his love for us in Jesus Christ...

We hear and feel his presence in the Holy Spirit...

So how do you envision GOD?

A friend employed in a public school in the midwestern US recieved this in an email today:

Staff,
As you discuss our upcoming holiday just want you to be aware that some of our community members are VERY sensitive to the word HALLOWEEN. Thus we have refered to this day as our Fall Festival and steer clear of witches, and other demonic figures - pumpkins and bales of hay still seem to be ok. Just wanted to give you a heads up to save you ........the scare! :) If you have a student that expresses that they can not participate in Halloween please let's forward that information to Paula who can work with the other speciailists in forming our routine "alternate activity" Thanks specialists! :)

Susan xxxxx, Principal
xxxxxxxxxx Elementary School
xxxxxx District Schools USD #xxxx

My question:

Is this something new?
Is it religion related?

Heard through the grapevine that his health is ? [my aunt reported that at a regional conference a couple weeks ago, he asked the saints there to pray for his health]. Admittedly, he's 96 or 97... but he didn't speak at the General Women's Conference as has been his custom. Any one have any news?

You can claim that judging people is wrong and claim that you don't do it.
You then judge someone and get called on it.
You can a) deny, deny, deny or b) ask God for forgiveness.
Either way you never really have to own up to it or take any kind of personal responsibility for your actions.

Maybe you don't believe this is true for you, personally. But most nonbelievers see Christians as being this way. That is why many people would not want to become Christians even if they COULD believe in your fairy tales. People don't like to be associated with hypocrites and liars.

Some people who claim they do not believe in Jesus get pretty aggitated at the mere mention of his name in a question or sentence - why is this?

okay, i know i should be charged like 50 points for all these questions, but....

Isn't it entirely based off of a self help book called dianetics?

Am I entirely wrong?

This sounds like a number of other religions, but they claim theirs is better because their book is older....

I'd be interested in an overview from a scientologist.

Why is it called scientology? is it just to create a loose association with science?

These days you hear all sorts of people trying to convert you to their point of view whether its politics religion or science. Is it more important to self evaluate these beliefs, or is it more important to gather a following for a set of beliefs?

"If the Jews had obeyed God and killed the people they were supposed to then Muhammad never would have been born and we would all be better off for it. God knows what he's doing."

I'm of the opinion that if such a god existed, then it could have prevented anyone it wanted from being born through means such as miscarriage, wild animal attacks, disease, or (heaven forbid) just making that person believe something else. I tend to think that if there is a god, or any gods, then they're powerful enough to prevent certain things from happening without resorting to asking/commanding their believers kill people, especially when it goes against it's other commandments (Thou shalt not kill?).

So what are your thoughts about this statement?

2007-10-02 08:07:24 · 24 answers · asked by Anonymous

we should all just stop arguing on the topic of religion. we all have our beliefs and we will all see in the end. Sorry I started it all.

Faith is not evidence of things unseen unless it is placed in the Biblical God, right? (Otherwise, a Muslim or Scientologist's faith is equally valid to Christian faith.)

Is this like a judge saying "Only evidence that proves the defendant's innocence can be used. Everything else is faulty, mistaken, or planted."

Jesus started one true Christian religion. So today there must be just one body, or group, of true worshipers of Jehovah God. (John 4:23, 24; Ephesians 4:4, 5) The Bible teaches that only a few people are on the narrow road to life.—Matthew 7:13, 14.

The Bible foretold that after the death of the apostles, wrong teachings and unchristian practices would slowly come into the Christian congregation. Men would draw away believers to follow them instead of Christ. (Matthew 7:15, 21-23; Acts 20:29, 30) That is why we see so many different religions that claim to be Christian. How can we identify true Christians?
