Faith is the evidence of things hoped for. Faith is most powerful when based in Truth. Everyone ascribes to some level of truth. So I am grateful for the faith of all of those around me, whether or not it is the same as mine.

Faith, according to an English language dictionary, is 1...allegiance, 2...belief and trust in God, 3...confidence, 4...a system of religious beliefs. All humans have faith; it is tied in to hope. For example a child has faith in its Mother and trusts whatever she tells him as being true. They look up to their parents as examples to be emulated because children have a natural instinct to imitate.
The Christian Bible, written originally in Greek and Hebrew, defines faith in Hebrews 11:1 of the New Testament (NIV) as, "...being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Since this meaning is based on translations from Greek, Hebrew and into English you can rest assured it applies to faith in other religions too. Faith in all religions usually is inculcated into a child by elders so that child's natural faith, as explained above, accepts it ( has confidence) it is true.
Good luck, good health, peace and love!

People have reasons to believe in their own
religion. Their faith is based on what
they have been taught, on their own personal
experience, on the opinions they have, and
conclusions they have mindfully decided upon.
Truth is another part of that. One must determine
if they are following spiritual truth that will certainly lead
to everlasting life or what the best possible thing/result is.

Faith is the evidence of things that you cannot see and the substance of things hoped for. Its a belief that is based on something you know for certain but you cannot actually prove it in a physical sence. For example I believe in God and I know for sure that He lives but I have never set my eyes on Him.

Well if you believe in God, then you would know God has more power than you do. Therefore, God can presume to lord over your life and forgive your enemies even if you choose not to. That's because God gave you free will. See, get it? So you don't have to forgive but God can whether you like it or not. On the other hand, you can choose not to forgive God for forgiving your enemies, even if you won't forgive anyone, including God.
