I think to qualify as evil you have to know that what you're doing is wrong and do it anyways. But terrorists don't think they are wrong. They honestly believe they are carrying out the will of their god. They think they are doing the right thing. That's not evil.

Now, I know someone out there is probably going to misunderstand me (what else is knew?) and think that I'm trying to defend terrorists. I'M NOT. I think their beliefs are wrong and I think the only way to deal with someone that hardcore is to eliminate him.

But he's not evil.

Thoughts?

Did L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, really make that incredibly stupid remark?

When and where did he say it? Was he drunk or high on something?

I know the great power of prayer, but she will not listen too any scriptures. She will use the ones she likes, and take them out of context. Anyone have any other ideas? She knows the truth of faith in what christ has done for her, but she has placed it back in her church, friends, and law.

Anyone who is involved in works religion, you cant understand this question so dont bother answering. thank you.

I'm taking World Civ and I came across this quote:

"Some time afterward, God put Abraham to the test. He said to him, “Abraham,” and he answered, “Here I am.” And He said, “Take your son, your favored one, Isaac, whom you love, and go the land of Moriah, and offer him there as burnt offering on one of the heights that I will point out to you.”
(Genesis, 22:1-2)

What does this mean???

Are catholic bishops eligible for the office of bishop according to God? The following verses seem to indicate they are not. For those of you who don't want to read the verses. Bishops in the catholic church have no wives or children. Thus they seem to not meet the requirements God set forth. What do you think?

1Timothy 3:1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
1Ti 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
1Ti 3:3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
1Ti 3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
1Ti 3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

If Jesus supposedly died for ALL of the "sins", then no one has anything to worry about.
Then you respond to that with, "You have to ACCEPT Jesus". Well, there are plenty of people that have supposedly "accepted" Jesus. How can you really tell a Jesus acceptor from a non Jesus acceptor? I really don't think behavior is an indicator. And isn't "not accepting or acknowledging Jesus" a sin, and therefore covered by the Jesus insurance agency?
Does this create a double standard for Jesus acceptors? Are Jesus acceptors exempt from their law?

By condemning people to Hell and implying that their "salvation" hinges on their every "sinful" action, this negates Jesus. Where's the forgiveness then? Either it negates Jesus or it says that everyone is going to Heaven if it exists and that no one has anything to worry about. Then that means that having a "hell bound sinner" status is merely a social status matter akin to being a reprobate.

He wrote: “The man who studies theology…might watch carefully whether he increasingly does not think in the third person rather than the second person...."

I know he means to think about God in the 2nd person, as You, instead of in the 3rd person, as He/Him. But there's got to be more than that.

then why haven't they simply wished for death?

Its struck me the other day, why would you wanna live in a world with disease, worries, stress, anxiety, depression, etc etc when you can have eternal happiness in paradise?
If they really do believe that they are the chosen people and will have paradise, then why do they waste their time here? Why not just go to paradise?
