Thank you all so much. And if you think of anymore, please add them!

I've been treated for depression for over 10 years, and am going through a really rough time. I've been a devote Catholic for the majority of my life and am just looking for some encouragement. Thank you again.

I really think that what I would have to say would do good for a believer, and I don't see that you entered that in what you said.

Jesus is great inspiration, and if I had to say somewhere else in the Bible had things for that in it , it would be Psalms. The necessity is that there is a forward looking person, who looks past the issues of the day, and onward towards the promises that God has given. An unbeliever will not tend to do this, having no understanding of God's promises.

What Jesus did was servitude. He was the perfect servant who lifted up those who were unrighteous and gave them the gift of salvation. It doesn't matter how bad they were, and ironically it was good that they saw themselves in a bad light.

I understand depression is anger turned inward. And understanding that gave me the ability to turn my hope to God, giving a window to God, who I need to trust for something. The Bible is full of promises that God has directed to those who believe, and a believer can claim a promise from the Bible and remind themselves; thus sayeth the word of the Lord, He keeps His promises and will always hear me when I talk to Him.

My promise today is this:
4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:

6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
(Psalm 37)

God will fulfill His promises. He is trustworthy.

romans5:1..THEREFORE, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Rom 5:2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Rom 5:3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
Rom 5:4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Rom 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the LOVE OF GOD has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
hope this helps.

1 Peter 5: 6,7
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

When I was in the depths of depression, there was absolutely no human being in whom I could confide. I poured out my heart to Jesus, and I felt so comforted. I always had Him to go to, and He was the only one who could help.
