i personally dont believe in gods plan.if we were all pre destined to have a plan by god then what what would be the point of existing?is it if we will choose to follow that plan?then why would he give eternal torture just to see if humans will follow his plan?or maybe like if there was a plan and i was intended to get healed of sickness why would there be a doctor around since if it was intended i wouldnt need any medicine..perhaps god was bored so that he created us and wanted to be entertained so he gave us free will and even he/she doesnt know what our actions will be and thus he just watches..i dunno maybe no or maybe so..

Its said that hell is just a scare tactic, so if there is a heaven and you havent been a Christian in your life, where do you go?
Is there nothing? Your dead, thats it?
Or is there somewhere where you go? Like limbo etc
Im just wondering because it says in the bible that he who believes in god is given eternal life. So if you dont believe in god, is that it? No eternal life?

According to the Genesis geneology, the Biblical Flood took place when Noah was 600 years old, which, assuming the earth to have been created in 4004 BC, would place the Flood at about 2400 BC (about the same time as the Pyramids were being built). Yet no historical records of that time period, from the Egyptians, Phoenecians, Greeks or anybody else, mentions any such event (they could, after all, hardly have missed it). Historical records from such ancient civilizations as the Chinese or the inhabitants of the Indus Valley show no period of time where these civilizations were suddenly wiped out by a global flood, to be slowly repopulated later. There is simply no evidence whatever, from archeology, geology or history, which indicate a worldwide flood that wiped out all but eight people.

I mean how can you try to prove that god does or doesnt exist when you really cant be 100% positive that you are not dreaming right now and your entire life has been a big dream. You could be suffering from a severe case of sleep paralysis you feel and hear and see everything you can imagine up..I mean think about it your typing people around the world from your home and keyboard doesn't that just seem impossible...

Ok, sure thats a little extreme, but the point is clear. You cant prove god to be real or not...

~Josie~ says

Why do you care? Do you really think by posting a question like this that every christian will go, 'ya know, he's right'. Nope, I don't think so..........you can't take away love from someone's heart, no use trying........

This is such a stupid answer, i posted the question to get some intelligent answers, which i got from some people but you're not one of them people because once again you didnt answer my question

Daniel says

Why do scientists refuse to believe in simple Christianity?

WOW! are you seriously asking? scientists refuse to believe it because they refuse to believe that the earth has been around for a couple thousand years.. they're smarter than that

i_tell_the_truth says

London Girl says

Faith.
I have thought about being a atheist.
But, I am not even lying.
Something kept me hanging on to God.
And It felt like the right thing to do.
If i die and theres no God then okie dokie.
If i die and there is then good one on me.
If you die and theres no god then good one on you.
If you die and there is a god then well, hell is at the end of that path.

I am able by faith trust and following my heart.
if i choose to be Catholic.
My choice.

Don't tell me that
2.1 billion people are wrong.

Im not going to hate on your answer, your reply wasnt bad but it seems like to me that you are using your religion as a last resort, or as a "just in case there is a God" kinda thing and thats just not the kind of person I am, if im not sure about something then im not following and who knows maybe we'll live again with the same minds and we get to brag to christians that we were right? Lol. And yes, 2.1 billion people CAN be wrong, why cant they be?

I can give you fellas a bunch of reasons why somebody would be able to refuse to believe the bible

I am only asking because I always see answers posted by Christians saying that the idea that we came from monkeys is absurd. However, that is not even what evolution states.

Abortion
Creationism vs Evolution in schools
Gay marriage
Global Warming
Iraq
Ties to the Republican party
Prayer in Schools
Separation of Church and State
etc etc etc

Without compromising their religious views, how do you wish Christians would handle this issue? You can't just say, "Accept Evolution, endorse abortion and homosexuality, become Democrats and move away". Be realistic. How can they still be Christians, and keep their principles, but compromise on these issues? Would you be willing to compromise on the issue, or are you absolutely not waivering? If you are not willing to compromise, why should Christians?

Remember, compromise is supposed to be small, not an entire conversion.

By OCD I mean Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

I say and wonder about this cos many of them fixate on salvation and ONLY ONE way and their behaviour on becoming "saved" seems curiously reminsicent of OCDers who have achieved anxiety relief from expressing a fixation?

Anyone wondered about this?

The MOST famous name for God in the OT is called the Sacred Tetragrammaton –It is YHWH.

Yahweh was changed into Jehovah by Christians -- Mark 12:29

Harpers Bible Dictionary says that the name JEHOVAH was "the result of the translators' ignorance of the Hebrew language and customs" (1985 edition , p. 1036)

Jehovah is a mistaken name of YHWH.

The Book "World Religions From Ancient History to the Present" says : "The name Jehovah is a medieval misreading and does not occur in the Hebrew Bible" (edited by Geoffrey Parrinder, p. 386)

The Interpreters Dictionary of the Bible says the name Jehovah is "an artificial name" (vol. 2, p.817)

Asimovs Guide to the Bible says that the name Jehovah "arose by mistake" (vol 1, p. 135). The author further says : "This mistake has persisted and will probably continue to persist" (p.135)

"When it came to God's name instead of putting the proper vowel signs around it, in most cases they put other vowel signs to remind the reader that he should say "Adonai". From this came the spelling Lehouah, and eventually Jehovah ...(pg. 8 ,Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, 1984)

"The truth is , nobody knows for sure how the name of God was originally pronounced". -(page 7- Watchtower Bible and Tract Soceity, 1984.)

The name Yahweh is derived from the statement God made to Moses in Exodus 3:14. Moses asked God as to what his name was and he got the reply -- "ehyeh esher ehyeh" .

The editors of the NEW JERUSALEM BIBLE explain this as : "The Hebrew can be translated literally 'I am what I am' , which would mean that GOD did not wish to reveal his name to them" (p. 85)

"The truth is , nobody knows for sure how the name of God was pronounced" (Pg. 7 - Watchtower Bible and Tract Society)

Below is the true name of God for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear…….

Jesus is the Jewish Messiah but he was not the "Prophet like unto Moses" who was to come from the "brethren of the Jews".

The Holy Ghost is not someone who has not come… according to bible he has always been around.

Therefore who is the Comforter or “That Prophet” who John said he was not when asked (JOHN 1:19-21) ?

Moses replied : "And the Lord said onto me, they have well spoken that which they have spoken, I will raise them up a Prophet from among ‘their brethren’, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." (Deuteronomy 18:17-18)

The Bible refers to the Ismaelites (Arabs) as the Brethren of the Israelites :

(Gen 16:12) ....and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

(Gen 25:18) And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that [is] before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: [and] he died in the presence of all his brethren.

In this verse God specifically says from “their brethren” meaning that this a significant change to the usual lineage of the Prophets. The Final Prophet would com from the “brethren” of the Israelites which means the Ishmaelites in Arabia. This is why many Jewish tribes moved to Arabia to await the Final Prophet. The Quran were verses literally put in the mouth of the Prophet in the new tongue (Arabic) which was then memorized and repeatedly recited by all the companions.

-------------
Jesus said someone will be sent after him -- he will leave so the Final Prophet or “Comforter” can come with a final law that would JUDGE and establish legal commands of God to follow.

"But now I go my way to Him that sent me and none of you asketh me, 'Wither goest thou?' But because I have said these things unto you sorrow hath filled your heart. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth, for if I go not away, the [Last Prophet/Comforter] will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and approve righteousness and judgement" ----- John 16:5-8

To approve righteousness and Judgement means a new LAW would be sent through the Last Prophet.

Obviously Jesus is not talking about the “Holy Spirit” being the comforter/Prophet because the Holy Spirit has already come as once as a dove and many times before that.

The Holy Spirit has already come many times --- (Luke 1:15,Luke 1:41,Luke 1:67,Luke 2:25-26) and it is a divine “favor” or understanding….. not an actual person or Prophet.

And I will pray to the Lord, and he shall give you another [Prophet/Comforter/Spirit of Truth], that [his example] may abide with you for ever. (John 14:16-17)

As a mercy unto mankind God has promised to send down and protect a final complete message(Holy book) and code of life (human example) before sealing the Prophethood.
The Sunnah (example of the Prophet) is kept alive by every Muslim copying the life of the Prophet Mohammed.
---------------------
"But the Comforter[Prophet/Comforter/Spirit of Truth], whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your “remembrance”, whatsoever I have said unto you."—John 14:26.

The true message of Jesus, Moses and the Last Prophet is kept alive forever through the memorization and daily recitation of the Quran.

"I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now. How be it when he, the Spirit of truth , is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear that shall he speak- ----- John 16:12-14 -

This shows that the disciples were not given a full code of life nor a full message of absolute truth. Rather they were given glad tidings that a final Prophet would come who would teach them all the truth which would not only confirm what was said before but would tell of much more to come.

Holy Quran 5:48 To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the truth of whatever there still remains of earlier revelations, determining what is true therein, and guarding it in safety:
-------------------------
This Final Prophet will come as Isaiah predicted ………. From the land of Kedar (Arabia) and from the branch of Jesse (Ishmael)

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out his roots. And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge, and of the fear of the Lord.”--- Isaiah 11:1-2

The Quran calls the Angel of Revelation (Angel Gabriel) the Ruhool Qudoos “Holy Spirit” who is sent down to “strengthen” the Prophets.

According to Encyclopedia Biblica, we read: “Jesse is contracted from Ishmael”. (Cheyene , Encyclopedia Biblica under “names”)
--------------------
Isaiah tells of the Prophecies of a “Servant of God” who will come from the land of Kedar with a divine Law and he will be victorious over his enemies in battles.

He will bring a new law and message in a new tongue(language) and the villages of Kedar will sing the praises from the mountain tops.....

“Sing unto the Lord a new song , and his praise from the end of the earth…” (V.10)

“another tongue” (Isaiah 28:11)

Let the desert and its towns lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits; let the inhabitants of Sela sing for joy, let them shout from the tops of the mountains. 12 Let them give glory to the Lord, and declare his praise in the coastlands. --- (Isaiah 42:11).

Ishmael dwelt in the wilderness of “Paran”(Gen.21:21) He beget twelve sons one of whom was named “Kedar”. (Gen.25:13)
------------------
******** The reason Muslims use the bible to prove several points is because it is mentioned in the Quran that Allah sent down glad tidings of the Last Prophet to come in the Torah and Injeel (bible).

HOLY QURAN - 007.157 "Those who follow the messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures),- in the Torah and the Injeel (Gospel);- for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (and impure); He releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honour him, help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him,- it is they who will prosper."
