What was the the purpose of baptism and what preceded this requirement?

2007-09-15 16:59:09 · 6 answers · asked by spiritwoman343 2

Many people have different beliefs of God and his "requirements" about getting into Heaven. But the most Ive heard is that Homosexuals, non-believers, prostitutes, sex before marriage, and other things damn people to Hell. They are not allowed in Heaven. I always thought that if you "Pray for Forgiveness" you are allowed to go to Heaven. So Im curious, who exactly goes to Heaven. And if God denies these people doesnt that make him a bad "higher-power?" Also, whose to say who goes to Heaven or Hell?

Yes, indeed! It's like you have these non-believers who com and make rude and think-that-they-are-funny comments out of ignorance, but then they study the bible more than Christians to prove US wrong! I'm cracking up at my computer right now!!

Catholics do not worship Mary, the Mother of Christ--as though she were a deity. Of all the misconceptions about Catholic belief and practice, this one is the most absurd. Catholics are just as aware as Protestants that Mary was a human creature, and therefore not entitled to the honors which are reserved to God alone. What many non-Catholics mistake for adoration is a very profound love and veneration, nothing more.

Mary herself prophesied: ``For behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name.'' (Luke 1:48-49). Catholics know that every bit of the glory they give to Mary redounds to the glory of her divine Son, just as Mary magnified God

So why do you believe Catholics do?

Of all the Muslim answerers who have posted on my questions, I've never ran across an impolite man yet. I've ran across a couple females who could qualify as poodles, if you get the meaning. So many nice men and women on here, and a couple women making them look as bad as some of the religious bigots claim! Is this common in Islam? I've come to expect it from certain other groups, but never expected such foul attitudes from Muslims. Let me say up front, that this is the exception, not the rule! Most of the members of Islam that I have had the pleasure to hear from have been very well spoken and polite. Your opinions?

and thought I would share. She said:

Please stay out of the bible when you don't know what God is saying there. You don't have the Holy Spirit and without Him you cannot understand God's Word . He intended for it to be that way, it is too precious to be abused by people who don't know God, the bible is a book for believers , not heathen.

Do you agree with her?

I know, some of you christians are offended by the humour, delivered free of charge, brought to you by the Gay Atheist Boy and Girl Scouts of America, but I must say that you are very attractive when you are angry. I like the way your lip curls slightly and your fingers dance on the keyboard. Your lower lip turns down in a sublime pose of extreme passion. I can see the sweat starting to glisten on your brow, and I almost smell the emotion. You guys, you know, I am really getting , well, somewhat excited, sweaty palms, heavy breathing and , well, excuse me, I will be back in five minutes......

Has Matthew 24:14 Been Realized?

Far to many believe erroneously that Matthew 24:14 has yet to be realized, and as such the Second Coming of Jesus is far off. Sadly they are wrong. See:

Forgive me for not answering your questions - I've reached my limit for responses. I shall try again tomorrow. THANK you! Oh, and if I haven't responded to a message it's probably because I've also reached my limit of being able to (you guessed it!) respond to messages.

Save 'em, y'all! I wanna answer 'em so I don't have to go about cheating! Bad, cheating. Me cheat? Never?

*Tosses cookies all over you* Smiley. George baked some peanut-butter chocolate chip and tried to keep them from me but I stole them alll for you! Cheat? Never. Steal? That's... that's not a sin, is it?

Man!!! I can't believe that in only 3 months I will be 19.. life has passed so fast!!! like.. that means that when I turn 19 I will be almost 20. I remember to see 20 years old people as fully grown ups and stuff... now I am not so far from it. I wanna be 15 again.. I have to admit that I'm scared of growing up. Life seems to be hard when you're 18, how the heck would it be to be a 30 years old? I am not a typical 18 y/o girl.
Life passes too fast, 18 more years and I will be 36.
I feel old :(
Do you or have you ever felt the same?
I've never felt any rush of being adult and mature and stuff as some people pretend to be.

I think I have the Peter Pan syndrome

Many people do not realize that Yehoshua/Jesus was a Jewish man that practiced the faith and religion of his ancestors, that being Judaism. In order to even qualify as the promised holy prophet, the moshiach, you must fully keep all of the law of Moses and the commands given through the proven prophets. Without doing so that person is disqualified. In this faith that Jesus practiced it teaches that the moshiach is a made being, thus making it imposible for him to be the God of Israel. Lets look at some of these passages in our Tanakh - the real holy scriptures. The famous Micah 5:2 says this:
"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for Me [Yehowah]
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
during the age of eternity [literally: before the counting of time]."

I found out about this topic while listening to a Christian ministry podcast (this ministry helps people get out of pornography addictions and stuff) last night. So I would like to know what other people think about this.

Do you believe that a pastor who has strayed from God should NOT be kicked out of the church?

Let's put it this way. Say for example, a senior pastor has a pornography problem and he admits to it and wants to get help. Should he be kicked out of the church or should he be allowed to work at the church, but not be in a position of leadership? What happens if the guy was caught instead of apologizing? Should he be kicked out or given a chance to redeem himself?

No smart aleck questions, please. Those will be ignored.
