I'll be a robot, I like the idea of God guiding my footsteps.

I'm with you, kj7gs!

Proverbs 21:1
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.

Proverbs 16:9
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

You can call me a robot for believing that God directs my steps...that's perfectly fine with me!

I believe in salvation, but I don't believe that people can be forced into it. God knows the true intentions of the heart.

Forced salvation will only leave the door open for rebellion. Forced implies that free will didn't exist. There's been enough rebellion in heaven. God's trying to keep rebellion to a minimum.

Salvation is the result of ones development of love for God. Love is not commandable, isn't it?

The hope of getting salvation without abandoning our attachment for this world is like wanting money for a work we've never done.

if God would force each of us to be saved- then the relationship would not be as precious. His love and grace and mercy draws us into salvation- however I am so thankful that He draws me with His love, not force, because to love Him is a choice then not an obligation. I choose to love Him, and because of what He did for me, I choose to obey.

KiddRobot: Like what your saying, back at you with a twist.

Pr 21:1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, he directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases.
(You would think we would understand what that means with what happened to New Orleans. Man sure tried to stop it.)
Pr 16:9 A man’s hear deviseth (plans) his way; but the LORD directeth (puts on the right track) his steps.

AdoreHim, yes God draws, look at the definition.

Definition of draw in the concordance means drag. In Microsoft Word Thesaurus it mean: pull, drag, haul, move, tow, tug.

John 12:32 If I be lifted up from this earth, will draw, (drag), all men unto me

I don’t know if many or any of you are old enough or even country enough, but when I see the word draw I think of how a bucked used to be tossed in a well and the water was “drawn” up out of the well. Not a passive thing, takes a lot of effort. You can’t just wiggle your finger and say please for my thirst sake won’t you please come on up.

I can see there are many here that if they were parents & their child was in a burning house would not risk, limb & life to save them whether the child fought to burn alive or not.

Many answers here remind me of Andrea Yates who killed her children because she knew they may not accept Jesus and then they would burn in Hell forever. There are others who have also done this horror. There is also Susan Smith who killed her children.

If we are to embrace free will we need to enforce euthanasia & suicide as by law we are prohibiting. If God says that it is a sin yet man has freewill over God’s will; then we need to stop infringing on the will of others. Isn’t this what is happening in America today, infringing on everyone’s pursuit of happiness? Is there no end then, if so where is it?
It is not God that has “adulterated” the truth it is man.

No, love is not commanded: As truly loving parents we would lay down our life for our children. Why, because we love them, we loved them long before they loved us. We love them even if they don’t love us, we may not love their ways but love them. We are following Jesus’ example.

Now I see where the atheist's view “Christians” as: “Love me or else you will be tormented in Hell”, quoted from pixie_pagan answer to the question “The gift of free will?:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkuY6oBBxdauCy8LdA7AZg7ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070914103630AA5DBcF&show=7#profile-info-i8xirF3Yaa
Pixie_pagan addressed this contradictory philosophy exceedingly well.
"“Love me or else you will be tormented in Hell”. Certainly you have CHOICE but you do not have FREE WILL to make that choice. That by definition, freewill is free from fate and coercion. Now what would TRULY be freewill is if there was NO punishment and NO reward & you were simply told “Love me or not, it’s up to you.” Then you would be making the choice unfettered from ANY fear or threat or anticipation of reward. As a parent, I want my kids to love me because THEY CHOOSE to. What kind of parent would I be if I had to bribe my kids or threaten them with punishment to get their love & respect? Is that TRUE love?"

For the sake of those who question the existence of God and need rational answers, we have to make up our minds and stop teaching things which cannot make sense to them. If we continue as we are then we cannot or should not tell them how wrong they are not to believe or accept God unless we can justify our answers.

Who is greater then, man’s will or God’s? One or the other is wrong, either God is omnipotent & saves us against our will or He is not omnipotent and cannot save us against our will, or He is talking about being saved from two separate things making both answers possible.

God doesn't want robots, he wants people to worship and serve him based on LOVE. (1 Cor 13:1-4)

If we submit to his guidance he will shepherd us, direct us and help us remain faithful.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and [their] marrow, and [is] able to discern thoughts and intentions of [the] heart.

Will we listen to God's Word, or lean upon our own understanding.

God wants to be in relationship with us more than anything. What kind of relationship would you have if you are forced to be friends with someone?

You are not forced into salvation. God gives you a choice; either you choose Him or not and risk eternity in hell.
