The ninth commandment, "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor" (Exodus 20:16; Deuteronomy 5:20), protects our relationship with God because by seeking and bearing true witness to the truth, we can have a relationship with God. God is truth (John 14:6), and he who speaks truth from the heart abides with God (Psalm 15:1-2). Speaking the truth also shows love toward our fellow man (Ephesians 4:15). Lies of any kind—bald-faced, white or anywhere in between—cause separation and distrust, while truth, though sometimes hard to bear at first, produces unity and trust in the end.

How can you say you love God but make lies about someones faith or beliefs, isn't that bearing false witness?

I have so many issue with people who don't open their narrowminded minds. I think thats my main problem. i can't handle those people. One of main issues and why is there so many people who just can't open their minds. like those chirsitians who only deal with the beliefs of the bible. for example: if you tell a christian that being gay is wrong, they will qucikly say that it is and it says that in the bible =,so as long as it saids that i don't want to listen to you. ooooooo that just pissses me off so badddddd. is it wrong for you to be born that way.? and another. people who oppose god and want to go to hell, say that they can't wait till they get to hell. why do they assume that hell is earth but there isin't religion. hell is the absence of god. and you have no sence of consciousness in it. so you won't see your friends and party with them wtf.? AND MY MOST PRoblem is with UFO SKEPTICS. WHY can't they open their minds. trust me if they saw one then they would believe.

As you prepare for bed, imagine a family exactly like yours, halfway around the world doing the same things. Tucking in children, feeding babies, for those who do so saying evening prayers, thinking about what must be accomplished tomorrow. Put yourself in their position for a moment. They have the same hopes, dreams, loves and fears you do. Religions and politics create divisions where there are none. People are people. For those who pray, consider the needs of those you will never meet and include them in your prayers. For those who do not, consider the fears and hopes of those who do, and the comfort afforded by these rituals. Be kind to your families, be kind to each other, and be kind to yourselves (since you are very important to someone). Good night, and pleasant dreams.

This is a ridiculous question but then some of the Indians are not knowing the answers. So I thought you can write your views as to where Lord Rama & Lord Krishna were born. Those small group of people are asking for the proof of birth place of Lord Rama & Lord Krishna.

They worship a God that will torture people endlessly if you do not subscribe to this cult-religion
they worship a version of God that used BLOOD to forgive our sins.
They worship a version of God that used INCEST to popluate the earth.

Here's an economic reason why I think religion is a bad idea:

Of course I'm assuming religion as superfluous, which of course isn't completely true.

1. Full-time clergy don't help the economy in any way, because they don't work. They just spend the money that is given to them and make a living off of that. In my books, they must as well count as the unemployed.

2. Theists donate money to the church, now I know some of it goes to charity but the other half goes to upkeep, contruction of churches and the paying full-time clergy. It's much better to just donate directly to a charity.

3. The money people donate takes away from people's disposable income. The more disposable income you have the more money you save. The more savings people have the the more money is invested into the bank or businesses. This leads us closer to the Golden Rule savings rate (ie. the consumption per efficiency unit of labour is maximized when we reach the Golden Rule savings rate)

Luke 23:43 Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.
2 Cor 12:4 was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell.
Rev 2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

People saying that God is a mean guy who lets his creations burn up in hell because they didn't repent and thats why I don't believe in him. So I am going to tell you this right now. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS HELL. Bad people or people who didn't believe just cease to exist after judgment day. No they don't teleport to some other place. And there is no question of well where can they go? HES GOD FOR DAMN'S SAKES. HE CAN FRIGGIN DO ANYTHING AND SO HE CAN MAKE YOU DISAPPEAR IF YOU'RE AN ATHIEST.

There are obviously some serious parallels between Horus/Jesus and Gilgamesh/Noah, but I haven't heard much from the Christian view of these events. I suppose one could say that these are the "false gods" that are talked about in the Bible, but these stories predate their respective counterparts, so there are some roadblocks to that theory.

Also - what are some similar shared stories? Reading through history books, it looks like just about every religion is just borrowed parts from past ones, but I haven't heard much of an argument for this on the Christian side, even though it seems like it should be a bigger topic of discussion. If anyone has any books that address these topics, I'd love to hear them, too. I'm reading "The Bible Unearthed" now, it's a very interesting read. So, any thoughts?

If they hate God so much then why learn about him? Is it just to know what to criticize or make fun of christians about or just to make up excuses for all the "magical" stuff and prove christians wrong? It's kinda pointless if your a nonbeliever. And for a believer to study the bible, they do it to learn what God wants us to be.
