By OCD I mean Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

I say and wonder about this cos many of them fixate on salvation and ONLY ONE way and their behaviour on becoming "saved" seems curiously reminsicent of OCDers who have achieved anxiety relief from expressing a fixation?

Anyone wondered about this?

Please READ the questions more carefully. This is not an attack on religious belief but a question about the motivation of fanatics!

One answerer provided evidence by demonstrating exactly the kind of behaviour I was describing presuming anyone else who was not obsessed with saving themsleves and others needs to be converted!

I think some are, I know I used to be. Everyone had to believe my way or be thrown into h@ll fire and d@mnation. I believe I have grown quite a bit since then. I try to convince no one of what I know. God can take care of God. I'll share if asked. God gave us free will, and of course I support God's decision. I trust His opinion...Who am I to question God or to question anyone else in their belief. I try to understand them, but do not try to convince. That's God's job, not mine! Thank God.
Peace

I think the issue is more about focus. Someone who believes salvation is the most important aspect of life will of course focus all their energy toward this goal, both for themselves, and in evangelical circles, anyone they come in contact with.

I honestly think this hearkens to 19th century deconstructionism that reduces belief, faith, or any truth claim to a single factor. So, if salvation is the most important thing, then the evangelical is "obsessed" with it.

I prefer a more healthful full bodied approach to the faith, but that happens with us Calvinists.

It's OK if you believe I have OCD because I am in Church every Sunday, read my scriptures every day and pray at least 5 times a day never eating a mouthful without giving God thanks for it and asking a blessing on it. My life has changed completely for the better since I recommitted my life to my Heavenly Father. I am not perfect and never will be, just trying to live a good and wholesome life that will hopefully get me back to my home with Him one day. Is that a certified mental disorder? OK! I'm mentally ill. I admit it. But boy! Does it feel good!! I love it. I love Heavenly Father, my Saviour Jesus Christ and the wonderful Holy Spirit. Blessings to you.

I've often wondered the same thing about certain people by their behavior. But they are not called fanatics, they are called "die hard football fans". If I have a bible verse in my cubicle and a cross on my desk, I am contrued as a religious fanatic, but when my co-worker pulls out her Redskins coffee cup, displays her Redskins wrist watch and wears her Redskins cap everyday and parks her car with her Redskins license plate riding with her Redskins floor mats and talks about the games every Monday after the Sunday game - she is excused and accepted. Hmm If you ever let Jesus come into your heart and "save" you, you'll understand the joy and want others to experience it too.

No. OCD, or obsessive compulsive illness, is a neurological illness brought about by using a chemical imbalance interior the ideas. in case you haven't any longer have been given this chemical imbalance, no non secular enthusiast is going to make you have OCD.

If ocd makes you a great Christian, then I hope to get it. Because that is exactly what the Bible says, one way to Heaven and that is thru Jesus Christ. Without him in your life, you have no chance of getting to Heaven. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the Life. In him we have eternal life if we believe and become born again, Read the Gospel of John, great book in New Testament, Jesus died for us, a perfect man, died for my sins and yours, without that , we would all be on our way to hell, fortunately John 3:16 came along, God had mercy on us and sent his son, now we can go to heaven just by having faith and receiving the free gift of salvation, his blood on the cross washed away our sins forever, If you would like to be saved, if you feel God right now speaking and convicting your heart, say this prayer believing, Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!
