I'm trying to find Bible verses that speak about the sort of power (or lack there of) that Satan has in the world.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Hi. I really want to go to a college other than BYU, but, I don't know if they would honor my wanting to go on a full time mission after my freshmen year. Do you know if that wold be acceptable, or if they would terminate my enrollment. Anything would be helpful, thanks.

They are always liberal. They perform "gay marriages" Just li Tori Spelling who specifically became a female minister to perform a "gay marriage"

I am not a "bible-banger" but I can tell when liberalism is going decietful. They are evil as a bad chicken.

I've told this story a couple of times, in other questions, but I'm going to do so again.

I grew up in a Southern Baptist family. I was taught that, if I didn't believe in the Christian god, there was something wrong with me. I was told that all I had to do was pray for Jesus to enter my heart, and I would believe, and be saved from hell, which I was terrified of. I was told I'd feel whole, happy, wonderful. So when I was about 7, I prayed for Jesus to enter my heart and fill me with belief. I felt nothing. I prayed and prayed, and nothing ever happened. I was so scared, I thought God was rejecting me. I thought I was doomed. For years, I didn't tell anyone how I could not feel the love of God, could not bring myself to believe.

I'm an Agnostic now, and quite happy, but I could have been a lifelong believer. Christians say that their god wants all of us to believe. So why didn't your god enter the heart of a sincere little girl who wanted nothing more than to be his?

I'd like to point out these two quotes from Jane Roberts/Seth's books::

"You are a sender and a receiver. Because ideas have an electromagnetic reality, beliefs, because of their -intensity-, radiate strongly. Due to the organizing structure of your own psychological nature, similar beliefs congregate, and you will readily accept those with which you already agree." -Seth

"Information does not exist by itself. Connected with it is the consciousness of all those who understand it, perceive it, or originate it. So there are not records in terms of objective, forever-available banks of information into which you tune. Instead, the consciousness that held, or holds, or will hold the information attracts it like a magnet... The information itself wants to move toward consciousness. It is not dead or inert. It is something you grab for, it is also something that wants to be grabbed, and so it gravitates to those who seek it." -Seth

"You shall not make for yourself any graven image, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth."
Nevertheless there is lots of figurative art in churches. Why?

I read an article in my local newspaper. Basically the article was about how schools these days are having trouble keeping biology teachers. They said that these evangelical students are giving teachers so much crap when they try and teach evolution that the teachers just get tired of it and find other jobs. The schools apparently are trying to make it to where that in order to take biology, the student would have the have a 3.0 GPA or higher to even qualify to take biology. I think it's funny that these evangelical crazies are such notoriously bad students that the schools would even suggest this as a solution.

Whereas one is determined purely by genetics and the other having both biological and environmental influences, people can't seem to accept others for who they are. Homosexuality is not a sin, and any God who declares it so (not naming anybody) is a bigot, not worthy of worship. Just as it does not make one better, or more righteous, for being white, it does not make one better for being heterosexual.

If you think otherwise, please explain rationally why you disagree.

Saying homosexuals cannot reproduce (which is false) is a lame argument, and does not give you the right to discriminate. Any other reasons for your intolerance?

However, there is a lot of proof, but that is not the point of this question. What evidence do you have that proves God is not real? Can you convert me from a Christian to an atheist? It will not be easy, but if you can do this, I will be forever in your debt.

I have not noticed it to be any different from any other day.

Why doesn't God show his power and answer the billions of prayers for peace, and love, and health. Are these things unimportant to God?

Does prayer really change His plans?

2007-08-13 08:20:17 · 13 answers · asked by The Dog Abides 3

My question is does your desire for GOD have to be greater than lack of will and hoping GOD alone will change what you are asking for?

In a program that was on homosexuals who state they are now heterosexual after finding hope and power from GOD and the Holy Spirit, one thing they said is that they desired to please GOD first before anything else including thier sexual orientation, they also said the homosexuals who did not find change with GOD when they asked to be converted, did not want to please GOD first, they wanted GOD to change them with the lack of desire in pleasing GOD before anything else.

Do you agree with this?

Is there a specific point where humans outlawed sex via religions, or has it always been this way- has sex always been considered bad, sinful, dirty, evil, etc., by the majority?

Because I think that it should be a major sin. Taking advantage of the poor and capitalizing on their desperation is inexusable! I realize that it's nothing new, but it never fails to amaze me the depths that people will willingly sink just to turn a profit. I just wanted to know how big a sin The Bible (both testaments)indicates it is.

I think we should. And not only add Critical Thinking as a separate subject, but incorporate the logical reasoning techniques into the other subjects. To foment in the children a healthy rational spirit to question and not just absorb every single piece of information. We should teach them to be more concerned with questions like:
what do you mean by? how did you come to that conclusion? what is the source of your information?,etc.
I think it could be a way to fight the credulity crisis that's affecting the world nowadays. What do you think?

why some people believe every word of it?

2007-08-13 08:11:11 · 4 answers · asked by Anonymous

At the time, I didn't really think anything of it cause I attended focus (it was a youth ministry that wasn't direct with the school, but we met once a week in the cafeteria to hang out) but now that I think of it...that was just like....so uncool. If I could go back, I would have probably politely refused to accept it (really, I've got two more at home already before this).

But anyway, what do you think about this? Was this pushing it a little too far even if the school didn't actually set up the program, but it was someone's personal project in the graduating class?

From: thachu5

Subject: religion

Message: You believe in the soft qualities because youare a soft person, you really don t need any religion to be who you are, go ahead and influence people by being a good person, all human hearts created by god are only good, its the ourside world that teaches hatred, i am better than you attitude and the brain follows these stupid things, if we all follow our hearts we will see love and peace on earth. Do not spread the word, no one wants it, be the word thats what humans want. Religions had caused a lot of damage to mankind. God sent man without a name , he did not even gives cloths, we are all born naked, but the worldly things teach us to be muslims, shiats and sunnis, hindu , chirstina rich poor, high and low. A real religious person does not live for a name, he does not live for any identity. So be who you want to be believe me you will answer god in being who you are, when we deny ourselves then we are denying the expression of god within us. God does no twant anyone to spread the word, he wanted us only to be who we are, in doing so we will appreciate in each other god' s presence. God does not want people to market his words. If you are a good natured person your goodness will be understood by the deaf, dumb and the blind. If a blind man feels your presence without not even hearing you ,rremmeber you have mastered the art of communication to god.
