Girl Wonder, it is there, though the lion king is arguably SFX. The Aladdin one is hilarious, I had my entire spanish class in high school in uproar one time.

Yes, I have loved Disney for over 50 years. I don't think I am too demented altho I watched the mean witch and the mean black crows and the mean wolf and all.
It is excellent entertainment for children.
If you have a problem with Disney, then for heaven's sake don't read them the Bible, either. There is violence, sex and even murder in there. Adultery, sacrifices, and someone dead who comes back to life and wanders around terrfying the neighbors. Lepers.
Come on. Bad things are a part of life.
Don't shield your children from life, teach them how to tell what is bad from what is good, and how to resist temptation, how to help others, how to live in the world and not be "of it."
Use Disney to TALK to your children about the parts that bother you. Use Disney to teach and inform, and entertain you children. Not to Preach their life to them. It is FICTION!
Difficult things in movies gives you an opportunity to discuss what they SHOULD do in that situation. OR why something happened like that.
Don't just let it all go in and get absorbed-like a metal baby-sitter.Watch with your kids.
I do agree that the mass merchanizing of junk, and especially the "princess" stuff is damaging our little girls. It teaches very shallow, materialistic ideas.

I think disney is fine, and the Aladdin legend isnt real. He said "good kitty..." take off and go.... 7 year olds don't catch this stuff... And if it wasnt for those urban legends websites pointing those half a second instances, then I dont think anyone would. Walt wouldn't purposefully jeapordize his multimillion dollar business on silly little jokes. Though it may be possible that a few nerds tweaked with the video and the editors missed it....but besides that disney is suitable.

The Aladdin thing is real, confirmed it myself. I don't blame Disney though, stuff like that happens at a lower level. Soem of the dev's/producers/etc. can be held accountable, and likely have.

I don't know about the things you mentioned above, but I don't really think it's appropriate for kids under 5 when it comes to abandonment themes. And why is there nearly always a dead or missing parent?
I like Disney movies, except I find repugnant the mass merchandising that makes it so popular, particularly the pretty princess stuff. I don't think it makes for strong role models for girls to focus on material goods.
I have a niece that is nearly 6 years old, and she was always upset when inquiring about missing or dead parents. (I didn't take her to see most of them.)

Let's see, first Harry Potter... I knew it would only be a matter of time before they put Disney on the chopping block.
Yes it is suitable for children. If you have doubts do what most should do and watch it yourself before you let your child watch it and then determine if it is suitable.

My God, Walt Disney is assailing our children from beyond the grave with images and messages that either subliminal or completely non-existent! And here I thought he'd go after the Jews...

Only if you know it's there and are searching for it will you find those things. At the age children are watching it even if they see those things they are not going to see the same things you are. Let them watch the movies.

Movies made by the Disney Studio itself are fine for kids. I believe it is their Touchstone studio that deals with more adult themes in its movies.
