You read an article....great atheist line. Dude, reference the article so we can all read it and discuss. By the way, I read an article that all atheists were dropped on their heads as infants, and that's why they can't handle confrontation.

If they can't handle a little challenging discourse in the classroom then they are bad teachers. If the students ask a question they can't answer (as long as it is germaine to the subject matter) it is the responsibility of the teacher to either research the question or refer the student to an outside source.
If the student is just being disruptive or consistently off topic, there are disciplinary actions that the teacher can take. You cannot have a few students monopolizing the classroom.
I pity the students whose teachers are so ignorant of their subject matter they'd rather move to a different school than learn enough to answer their students' questions.
BTW in answer to Tony, teachers work 9 months out of the year, they never work overtime, they never work weekends or holidays or snow days... adjusted for a 12 month year they are actually making $46 thousand which is more than most professionals make. They can afford to spend a little time learning their subject matter!!

I have an alternate view of this very subject. You can read if you like. These students are asking questions, and the teachers can't give them answers,or the teacher can't stand the scrutiny and bails out. It's called academic equality.A student does have the right to be critical in class.A student does have the right to question such subjects as evolution in class. If they can't,then it's not fair to the student.I would rather have a class of questioning students, rather than zombies who could care less.Check out this page for A little more detail on the subject. It's titled "Science Teachers Violate NSTA Standards of Open Inquiry" written by Patti Nason, Ph.D.*

Please email me some more details like where and when so I can check this out.
I think it is actually funny. I hope more schools take similar steps and more teachers simply refuse to put up with the crap.
I believe the religious types will never be happy until we are under religious dictatorship and living in the dark ages again.
For those who think it is just innocent questions check out the disruption techniques advised by the Creationists on the web like AiG and Northern Creation Institute. They are teaching the students to flatly deny facts and to use totaly false statement as their arguments.

It's not just isolated to the sciences. I know of a literature professor who got fired because he said a "naughty" word in front of a Fundamentalist student, who complained so bitterly that the professor was eventually terminated. I also know of several profs who have had to change their lesson plans because they offended certain students' extremely fragile religious sensibilities. I am a religious person myself, but I find this appalling. As for the professor who got fired for using a curse word, this happened at a university, not at a day care center. Some people need to realize that the entire universe doesn't revolve around them and/or their personal beliefs.

uh, yeah. I suppose that's what happens when teachers tell their little fairy tells about how that monkeys one day wanted to become a man. And they teach it as absolute fact in spite of all the evidence against it, or lack of evidence to prove it.

I've read that article. My question is: Why can't the teachers answer their questions?

Any teacher that can not handle the philosophical excrement that would come out of their ignorant mouths is not worth his $35K annual salary anyway.
We dont pay our teachers enough to put up with their mindless drivel.
evolution speaks for itself and can stand on its own merits unless someone is an idiot
