I'm trying to learn Hebrew and came up on the unutterable name of G-d and had a question about it. I know that when we come up on Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey that it is proper to say Adonai. I also know that in ancient times that the Levitacal Priest was the only one that could utter that name, and only after the atonement sacrifice at Yom Kippur. Is the unutterable name of G-d unutterable because it can not be formed by the mouth, or is it that you can only say the word "YeHoVaH" (Jehovah) from a purified mouth? Please don't think this question is out of disrespect. It's just that that's what I seen as I was meditating on it. Mostly it's out of just not knowing.....

I have a deep desire to be a television celebrity, which I had since I was a teenager. But, my life has never gone in that direction and the more I try, the more doors close. And, I feel guilty for having this desire, since we all know that television is not the most positive, healthy influence. I wonder if this is a selfish dream or if the Lord really planted this in my heart. What do you think?

I notice many right wing Christians in the US condemn liberals of being 'bleeding hearts', and the righties oppose programs that help the poor-
So why do these right wingers worship Jesus? Jesus was a liberal- he spent all his time challenging authority, and helping people, feeding the poor, healing the sick- Yet the radical right have nothing but distain for the poor...So why do they worship jesus, when the righties hate everything Jesus stood for?

wen i first found jesus in my soul he welcomed me into his loving embrace with open arms. i am pleased to neal before the lord and keep my chin high as i do so! his tended touch is more powerful as you can imagine. it sends shivers up and down my body when he touches me, and i feel jesus touch me every day. I feel it wen im at work, at school, in the car, cleaning my house, in bed, and right when i wake up in the morning. Jesus will always have his hands on me. and im proud to give him total access. does anyone else feel this strongly about the lord?? share ur thoughts please.

my brother loves asking these types of questions so I thought i'd see what people here have to say about this question:

the questions is: When we die, the Bible says that we go to Heaven. Where in the Bible does it say that we go directly to Heaven? Where does it say that we go immediately to Heaven or hell?

His points: just because the thief on the cross was told he'd go directly to heaven (the next day) a day in God's time is not a day in our time.
he had another point but i forget it.

I'm not saying i believe this-i believe that we go either directly to heaven or hell but i'm very curious about other people's opinions.

It also says, "Allah is - Al Bari" (The Evolver)"

I mean do you accept the scientific definition of a fetus? Are you pro-life just because of the way you feel, rather than for any scientifically plausible reason? Another poster brought up the subject of pro-life and I just wondered what non-religious ideas are out there. Thanks.

How is it possible to say that this verse calls for terrorism?

Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits, for Allah does not love transgressors. 2:190

Look at the words. It says to fight those "who fight you". It says to fight only when somebody is fighting you. It doesn't say to whip out a weapon and start fighting for no reason. It says to defend yourself. It also says not to go overboard. Just defend yourself.

Can you please tell me why this is commonly quoted as a call to kill any unbeliever?

Why do you star?

I mean he has no sense of right and wrong -- what is evil, yeah it's God when he's having a fit or possibly due to his bi-polarity -- Does whatever he wants. Take people away to play with him. Doesn't tell anyone what he wants and expect everyone to cater to his desires? Sounds like a child with superpower.

There are many scriptures and passages in the Bible that Christians point as evidence that we go to heaven when we die. But on closer examination the only way to interpret that is to read scripture out of context. Jesus never preached that we as human beings have an immortal soul. On the contrary Jesus does tell us that we as humans can and do die, all humans, a first death. Humans are not immortal. When we die we are dead, we cease to exist.
