Without a "higher power" what would have catalyzed the creation of the Universe and all the complex systems within it? The Big Bang, Evolution and Religion are all beliefs not fact. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying poke fun at Atheism or Religion. I use the term "higher power" because God(s) have yet to be proven or disproved, however there is a significant amount of evidence that there is something that breathes life into the Universe.

So what is this, what started the Universe and the complex systems within it?

Like instead of money being spent to house pastors wouldn't the tithing go toward building a safe refuge for Christians durring the tribulation, if all Christians believe in Post Tribulation Rapture? I think Evangellist just want members to believe in Pre-tribulation rapture so they can take the money for themselves by decieving members that they'll be safe in heaven durring the tribulation.

If we should take a million of worlds like this and number their particles, we should find that there are more Gods than there are particles of matter in those worlds." (Apostle Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 2, p. 345)

They must be in constant fear of death. Imagine how horrible it must be to think that once you die you cease to exist forever. How can that NOT be depressing?

I think so..and in some ways, the Atheists thoughts are directed right at the person's soul/energy that is in need, while the other requires intercession. I think we are all more alike than we care to admit.

Well, you SHOULD BE.

Look, if you want to believe in evolution and god, fine, I disagree with you, but at least you aren't living in complete a fantasy world. The thing is, why are you letting these lunatics get away with it?
Here's an example: say one day (and this would never happen) there was a movement among atheists to convince the world that polluting was good for the world or that AIDS was good for population control, or some other ridiculous idea. I would spend just about every day telling the reasonable people in the world that, no, these crackpots do not represent all atheists and that they are a bunch of liars.
So please, pretty please, stand up to these lunatics. They are using it as a political 'wedge issue' so that they can get religion taught in public schools. If you are the slightest bit reasonable, you have to see that.

In the Bible it says that God created Adam and Eve. When Eve was formed Adam said "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man." Notice he did not say she is 'my flesh and blood'. This was before they sinned. In the Torah it says "the life is in the blood". Go forward to the gospels in the Bible and you will see that all of Yehoshua's (aka Jesus) blood was shed when He was crucified. When appearing to Thomas who thought he was a spirit, Yeshoshua told him to touch him and said "See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." At the Ressurection we are supposed to have a body like His. Paul also said "flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God" Since blood is what makes us mortal and we are to have life to the eon of eons don't you think blood will be replaced by the spirit of God?

we just had our first real gig last night. we are a all women drumming group, using mainly djembes. we don't want to be openly pagan, but it would be nice to incorporate paganism into our name. we have thought that "venus rising" might be a good name. what do you think about it, and do you have any other suggestions?

please be respectful, thanks : )

"In spite of the opposition of the sects, in the face of direct charges of blasphemy, the Church proclaims the eternal truth: 'AS MAN IS, GOD ONCE WAS: AS GOD IS, MAN MAY BE." (Apostle James Talmage, The Articles of Faith, p. 430)

"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man,.,. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345)

"God himself, the Father of us all, is a glorified, exalted, immortal, resurrected Man! (Apostle Bruce McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 1979 edition, p. 643)

"... you have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you,..." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 346

"If we should take a million of worlds like this and number their particles, we should find that there are more Gods than there are particles of matter in those worlds." (Apostle Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 2, p. 345)

Does anyone know what happened to those people who dug a shelter deep in a mountain to survive the end of the world?

These people were some weird American Christian Cult that were going to save themselves when the end of the world came in 2000.

Did they do it? Are they still there? Or did they come to their senses?

It is a shame that a people who claim to have the love of Christ would dare to insult, berate, argue childishly, name-call, malign, curse, condemn, etc., anyone who does not believe or live for God. This is the mentality of those Westboro Baptist people who are spreading more hate than Gospel.

What was Jesus' example? Where did He insult or condemn even the vilest of sinners? He addressed only the religious of His day with strict, straight forward action - but, they thought they knew what God was all about, so He had to show them their error. Otherwise, not one sinner received anything but love and patience from our Savior, Himself (e.g., woman at the well, woman "caught" in adultry, Zaccheus).

Do any other Christians agree with this assessment?

Did God also tell him he'd have to steal the election and disinfranchise the black vote in Florida?
Did GOD tell him to lie to his electorate about weapons of mass destruction and kill over 650 000 civilians?
Did GOD tell him to spend two trillion on this war - while 33000 children die each year in America because of poverty.
