Without a "higher power" what would have catalyzed the creation of the Universe and all the complex systems within it? The Big Bang, Evolution and Religion are all beliefs not fact. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying poke fun at Atheism or Religion. I use the term "higher power" because God(s) have yet to be proven or disproved, however there is a significant amount of evidence that there is something that breathes life into the Universe.

So what is this, what started the Universe and the complex systems within it?

BTW, when I say Big Bang, Evolution and Religion are not fact I am not denying them as true but simply saying that without proof we cannot say that they are either true or false.

I guess we may never know - greater minds are trying to sort this out - I'll leav it to them and in the mean time I'd suggest we all stop guessing and just enjoy the ride....

If you think the universe was created by a higher power, then something must have created the higher power. If you say the higher power has always existed, the surely the universe can equally well have always existed.

No one knows about the origin of the Universe, simply because it would be an event outside the Universe, and we are limited to what happens inside.

Using this as an argument for religion ("Well, something must have made it") is just a fallacious pushing back of the creation by one stage. I could equally say, "Well, something must have made the creator".

It is a question with no answer.

The universe began within the mind of God.When God breaths out then the cosmos expands and when he inhales then everything comes together again. This goes on for all eternity and is as well a great mystery, one which is very hard to understand with our finite minds.

The Big Bang started the universe. It's a hell of a lot more believable than a magic sky fairy who created the Earth in six days.

God, the absolute Creator of the Universe, the Earth, and everything on it, breathed life into the Universe.

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth..."
-Genesis 1:1-

Simple as that.

Science can't answer that question, since it requires a theory of quantum gravity (a combination of general relativity theory and quantum mechanics), which has not yet been developed.

Religion can't answer that either, since no one can know the mind of God.

God created the universe. A human eyeball is a very complex organism. It also takes order.
