I think so..and in some ways, the Atheists thoughts are directed right at the person's soul/energy that is in need, while the other requires intercession. I think we are all more alike than we care to admit.

I think asking for divine intervention is a lot different than hoping for a positive outcome.

I think it is the 'same' as in both cases a good outcome is being sought for the ill person.

The difference is in the efficacy. By prayer, I take you to mean prayer to God by Christians, in which case Christians are asking the Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, to help the one prayed for. Now, Jesus did say 'Knock and the door will be opened, etc', so meaning God will help those who pray for God's assistance. What greater help is there than God's?

In the case of the 'positive thoughts' by Atheist, they are not asking the help of the Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, as they don't believe in such a God. I think they are relying more on their own goodwill and whatever paranormal things that may exist, or just themselves. How does this compare with the prayer of the Christians in its efficacy?

However, I do believe God loves everyone, not just Christians, so God may just hear the positive thoughts and well wishes of non Christians as well, and help where God chooses to do so.

You say "while the others requires intercession? I was just wondering who it is or what it is, that carries those "positive thoughts" to the individual, where they can introduce to the individuals soul?

At least with Intercession prayer, it is the Holy Spirit of God who interceeds our prayers, reads our hearts request, and delieveries them Directly to the throne of Grace, with spiritual utterance, that we can not.

How ever we do it think it or say it the idea of taking time to think about and direct positive energy toward another is a good thing no matter what label you put on it.

Ultimatly, no one knows.

I believe that we all have the power to help others simply through prayer for them, meditation, healing energies, and thinking thoughts of love and peace to them.

If your not praying in supplication to the One who answers prayers, He is not going to answer. And if you do not believe. Praying and believing is positive.

Greenwood,
Prayer requires GOD and a message to HIM. Atheists do NOT believe in HIM so they do not pray. As a Christian, I pray to the FATHER thru HIS SON, Jesus Christ as I am told to do in the BIBLE. Have a wonderful evening.
Thanks,
Eds
