Amanda M -Apparently YOU don't understand what a scientific theory is. A theory is a mathematical or logical explanation, or a testable model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, CAPABLE OF PREDICTING FUTURE OCCURANCES AND OBSERVATIONS of the same kind.

Which the Theory of Evolution DOES consistantly.
You are confusing a scientific theory with events like, when you 'theorize' that your boyfriend is out buying Crystal Meth.
That is the difference, GENIUS.

PS - Sorry if some of you didn't get around to it until 10th grade. I was learning the basics way before that, as I think most people who didn't go to a fundie school probably did.

luvdalz - You are an EXCELLENT example of someone who needs to retake 8th grade science. Here is a word you might want to look up since you can't understand how dinosaur bones could be around for millions of years. The word is - FOSSILIZATION.

All the 8th grade science in the world would never prove that evolution occurred, it wouldn't matter how many times you took it. All the so-called "evidences" they force down the kids' throats in school have long since been disproven even by fellow evolutionists, but they keep them in the textbooks because they have nothing else to support their theory.
Creationism uses the exact same scientific facts that evolutionists use; the only difference is that they have a different INTERPRETATION of those facts. Two people can look at the same thing and come away with two different explanations about how it got that way. One explanation doesn't make the other "unscientific". They're just different explanations. One person can look at the Grand Canyon and say it got that way from a little water and a lot of time, and the other person can say it got that way by a lot of water and a little time. One person can look at the skeleton of a T-Rex and believe that it lived "millions of years ago", and that it just died and laid there miraculously without the bones rotting or being scattered by scavengers or weather, and the other can look at it and say that it lived thousands of years ago and died in the flood and was buried immediately in the sediment. One person can look at the layers of the rocks in the earth and believe that each layer represents "millions of years", and the other can look at them and know that the layers were created by hydrologic sorting (due to a flood) and do not represent millions of years.
People who criticize creationism and those who reject evolution for scientific reasons do not understand creationism, and should try taking a course in it before making sweeping generalizations.

HAHAHAHAHA.
That would be amazing. 8th grade science was so boring the first time around.
More seriously, how about they just don't pass the class if they can't express a basic UNDERSTANDING of evolution (ESPECIALLY in 10th grade Biology). They don't have to believe it, but if they at least understood it, that would cut down on 95% of the BS on this board about it (and probably a good deal of creationists in general).
Edit: BTW Sebek. It doesn't have as much to do with a "fundie school" as where the person went to school. Biology was taught in 10th grade where I went to HS, and I don't think anyone gets a complete understanding of evolution until they take Biology. My understanding actually increased significantly when I took college biology. 8th grade for me was mostly Earth science, which didn't deal much with living things.

Did you know some schools actually let students opt-out of part of science that deals with evolution. What a disservice to this country. No one can force you to believe it but they can force you to learn it.
At to anyone who said it "it's only a theory". You have no clue what a scientific theory is. It is is much more that an idea. It is a well tested hypothesis, that has NEVER been shown to be wrong.
Creation is a failed hypothesis and can never even qualify as a theory.

I thought it was 10th grade when you learn about biology.
And yes, creationists are some of the dumbest things ever, in the history of the planet. The funniest part is that so many christians have accepted evolution without damaging any part of their faith. Young-earthers should be embarrassed. And i mean that both ways, embarrassed for themselves and that evolution accepters should take every opportunity to embarass them publicly.

There would be no point. If they weren't intelligent enough to understand it and learn about it the first time, there is no reason to believe a second go-around would have different results.

We learned a little about it in 8th grade, but it's usually taught more in depth in high school biology at about 10th grade.

That would kind of interfere with freedom of religion, among other things. People have the right to believe what they do, and think the way they want to.

Yea, and then all the people who refuse to believe that God created the heavens and the Earth and all that is within them should be made to study the Bible for an entire school year..., by a Spirit-filled Christian.

Perhaps the people who do believe in it should retake the same class. Then they would realize that it is only a theory.
And because of the "historical science" aspect of it can never be proven.
