It is a shame that a people who claim to have the love of Christ would dare to insult, berate, argue childishly, name-call, malign, curse, condemn, etc., anyone who does not believe or live for God. This is the mentality of those Westboro Baptist people who are spreading more hate than Gospel.

What was Jesus' example? Where did He insult or condemn even the vilest of sinners? He addressed only the religious of His day with strict, straight forward action - but, they thought they knew what God was all about, so He had to show them their error. Otherwise, not one sinner received anything but love and patience from our Savior, Himself (e.g., woman at the well, woman "caught" in adultry, Zaccheus).

Do any other Christians agree with this assessment?

How do the non-believers come to know Christ? Normally through another believer. So yes, I agree with you in that we cannot condemn anyone who does not believe. We have to be Christ-like so others will want to know the Jesus we claim to know. Loving people is what Jesus does- and we must too- Jesus brought many people to Himself while on earth, like the woman the well, and the woman caught in adultery by being loving. He did say go and sin no more- but he never treated people with anything but love. How about us?

Do you go to Joel osteen's church, cuz it sure sounds like it. Have you not heard, in God's Word, that not every one who says that they are a Christian are. But we will know them by their " fruit." Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. So quit classing everyone together, as Christians, because there are alot of moles here. And you, calling yourself a minister, should know that. I carry the sword of God's Word and I am faithful to speak His Truth when He leads me to do so. And I will not sugar-coat His Word so that it won't hurt a person's ego!!! Their blood is on mine and every other Christians hands if we DON't speak the TRuth as the truth when the opportunities arise. I so disagree with your statement in that Jesus did too show righteous anger several times. Read the chapter 23 of Matthew. We should never use foul language ever, I agree. But to say we're suppose to sweet talk their sinful lifestyles is a lie from hades!

To a point. I've always said that if you have to resort to name-calling and insulting, you didn't have much of an argument in the first place. However, that doesn't mean that you can't defend your Christian beliefs in a respectful but forceful way.

For example, Father K is very intelligent and witty, and he does an outstanding job of discussing Christianity. Debra M. is loving and yet makes her point with firmness and a good grasp of Christian theology. There are many other Christians who do a great job of defending their beliefs without crossing the line into unchristian behavior.

I have a bad habit of lapsing into sarcasm when I'm making a point, but God is working with me on that problem. My goal is to reflect Christ's love and defend His teachings with humor, logic, and wit. Any and all prayers to that effect will be greatly appreciated!

God bless you, and thanks for the reminder!

Those are the fortunate people who adopt piety as the principle of their lives and are fully attentive to their welfare for the Hereafter. They accept bare earth as the most comfortable bed and water as the most pleasant drink. They adopt the Holy Qur'an and prayers as their guide and protector and like Prophet Jesus Christ (Isa) they forsake the world and its vicious pleasure. Nawf ! Prophet David (Daud) once got up at such an hour in the night and said this was the hour when prayers of everyone who prayed were accepted except of those who forcibly collected revenues or who were scandal- mongers or were persons in the police force of a despotic regime or were musicians".

Firstly, I would like to state I am an Athiest.

Perhaps the reason for the constant attacks, on us, Athiests, is the Bible you so handsomely use to defend your point is the one that condones, war against heathens, which is frowned upon our society. So the only recourse is to argue against us, without actually listening to our ripostes. If you would read the Bible from an objective standpoint, or search Bible contradictions on the Internet, then perhaps you wouldn't be confused as to why the followers, of that or any other scripture are blind hypocrites.

Jesus told us to love one another, and 1 Cor 13 spells that out well. One thing that Jesus really didn't like was hypocrites. People who talked "holier than thou" but were no better. Our Pastor likes to say you cannot join a perfect church, because they are made up of people, and all people are flawed. St. Paul, one of the greatest preachers of all time, called himself the greatest sinner of all. Humble yourselves and pray.

i belive every thing you ve had said is true , but i must say that we as christians try to explain to athiest that christianity is the right way and when we try to explain it we do not have enough scripture or are not spiritually ready for these conversations. so when we try to explain it we end up afending or scaring the athiest with hate torwards are religion. belive it or not we have alot of people watching us on are daily christian lives and we act hipicitical and they see that we really arent serious about are religion and then the dont care about it any more. so we end up getting mad at one another and then we begin to fight thus distroying the witnessing process. i hope that i answered your question.

Obviously in the last days we're going to see a lot of this happening as believers get deceived and stray away from the truth. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. -1 John 2:10

Thank you. I think you and others like you should state this more often.
Some of the Christians in R&S are so hateful. It is good to see you setting this great example...thank you!

Yes, I agree, it's true that Christians shouldn't act with hate when God called us to love. Wish more Christians would consider this, thank you.
