How does this follow the Bible? How about becoming more Christlike (and God like) and having the unconditional love for others... especially those who are going astray. Like the story of the Prodigal Son? Why would Shunning those who do not believe or live by their teachings benefit it's members? Because no one is perfect. Why would family members be told not to talk to or associate with even their own family if they do not believe in the Jehova's witness religion any longer? It seems that following one or two verses in the bible goes against many many more of Christ's teachings. Can someone explain why JW's are told to SHUN even their own family members who refuse to believe in the religion, or marry outside their religion? thanks.

it does me...it implies to me that god wasn't with other people who were hurt. another one i hate is "it was their time to die." it's just stupid...do you agree?

1 Cor 1:12
What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Cephas[a]"; still another, "I follow Christ."

we could change only a few words and this perfectly apply today

What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow LUTHER"; another, "I follow CALVIN"; another, "I follow THE POPE[a]"; still another, "I follow Christ."

when will we learn that Christ does not want us divided
as long as we believe Christ died for our sins and is our Lord and Savior the rest are secondary issues that we can disagree on but do not need to separate

Okay. When you die, you get reincarnated into an alternate universe where Star Trek is reality. You get to be a Red Shirt first, so of course you get killed in some horrible manner almost the minute you step off the ship. But if you die with a minimum of screaming and thrashing, you can work your way up the ladder until you get to be the captain of your own Starship. At this point, you have reached Nirvana. Not sure what happens after that. I guess it's a mystery we aren't meant to know.

What do you think? :o)

What's your opinion on teaching your kids to have faith in God but not giving them an organized religion? I never went to church when I was little, but was told to pray and believe in God. I think I turned out okay... it helped me get through rough times without all of that church stuff.

Just the fact that there are so many different religions make me feel uneasy about EVER picking an organized religion. It seems so fabricated. I read the bible when I was younger and that was it.. I believed in God and got through things okay.

Quality of education is so fundamental to a modern nation's economic prosperity.

Does the USA risk falling drasticly behind the rest of the world if poor education standards, caused by fundamentalism fighting against science, leads to a large proportion of the best and brightest, who would otherwise make significant contributions, not being able to cut the grade on an internationally competitive level?

Is there a risk of important centres of learning being taken over by fundamentalists?

Before you mark this as innapropriate, i know it is atheist's right to believe what they believe, i just want to know why they believe it

So, this Forrest dude falls head over heels for this Jenny chick when they were children. That's cool and all, but what makes her think she can grow up, travel the world, basically bang the entire world, snort everything that she can't smoke, and then come home to Forrest only after she had run out of options?

Forrest's love for Jenny never, ever wavered over the years. He never stopped thinking about her. Jenny never paid Forrest a second thought until she knew that she was against a wall? That's pretty self-absorbed, is it not?

He did almost everything right for her, and she crapped all over him time and time again.

This has bothered me for years. Your thoughts on this crucial issue?

Think about this carefully it is not a joke or snide jab at religion, just answer truthfully if you can.

for those muslimahs that attend the mosque prayers...how do you find the atomosphere within the mosque concerning ladies being there?

1. Are you welcomed and made to feel at home?
2. Does your mosque have one large prayer area or are women separated by either a curtain or wall?
3. Are there community activities that encourage womans participation?
4. Have you ever had a negative experience while attending the mosque that made you feel unwelcome?

I ask because I love to attend the mosque...especially during Ramadan and I have heard stories that a great deal of American mosques are not very welcoming of women. Has any muslimah found this to be true?
