I took a Native American History class in my freshman year of college. The professor was a very smart man. Anyway, he used to be an anthropologist and has done lots of research.

When we were learning about Indians in the modern day south eastern America, he told us about how they would build tremendous mounds of earth for ceremonial purposes.

Now, this is where it gets interesting. A group of settlers from Europe voyaged to these areas and saw these huge mounds of earth. The natives at the time were thought of as savages, incapable of constructing such impressive mounds of earth. So they then decided that it was one of the lost tribes of Israel who had voyaged to the area and built the mounds themselves. The group proclaimed themselves relatives of this ancient lost tribe, and hence the Mormon religion was born.

I'm not trying to offend anyone and I'm sure this is pretty sobering for Mormons, but can anyone comment on this?

I was in the military and have seen various explosions, but generally there are no spherical shapes created. What would be the mathematical probability that a cosmic explosion would create so many beautifully spherical shapes?

When John 1:1, "Word was God" was changed in the NWT to "Word a God". Is this in the Mormon translation too?

Can God do anything? If the answer is "yes", can he create a rock heavier than he can lift? (If the answer is "yes", then he really can't do everything. How do you explain this?)

I'm more than aware, (and that would mean that I'm actually somewhat nauseated by the fact,) that most Jews, Christians and Muslims are all entrenched in the idea of creation, (and I think they're quite wrong about this issue,) but what does the rest of the world believe? Are Hindus, Buddhists, Wiccans, Pagans and the rest of the band as deluded as the monotheists?

"You're looking at the wrong part of the report"

"Ask God to tell you what it really meant"

"I was speaking in parables" Ask your pastor to help you with it"

"I didn't really mean that. Ask God to help you understand it"

...why prehistoric people invented religion? If there really is a God, why are there so many religions? Wouldn't he have made himself known to everyone from the beginning instead of only making himself known to the Jews?

I'm NOT interested in it saving your soul, etc.

I mean, what does it do to improve your life now?

Does it altar the way you perceive things?

Do you feel it helps you grow as a person and be better to others?

This is an example of how anyone can makeup anything and intimidate people into believing it

I can simply say,

"You're not meant to understand him"

"Zetso works in mysterious ways

"If you question Zetso, You're going to hell"

In the Zetso book, it says have faith in Zetso and all gods under him.

Muslims, Jews and Scientists from Europe created a cosmopolitan society of peace and mutual co-existance.

Islamic scholars of Religon (Mullahs,Imams,Ulama) were also scientists since the Quran encouraged the Muslims to look into science to see the power of God.

Muslim and Jewish scholars along with some Heretic Christians or "enlightened" scientists created a "JEWEL" in Europe.

Science, Mathematics,Astronomy, Philosphy etc. were discussed and studied with all three faiths living in harmony and peaceful coexistance.

This islamic attitude to science, mathematics and learning was so foreign in Europe that it was considered heresy and blasphemy.

This got the Catholic Church so UPSET they hunted down all the Muslims/Heritics and converted them by force or killed them.

The Church was so fanatically against free thought and scientific research that they blamed the Renaissance on Islam.

In revenge for undermining the awesome power of the Church (and planting a seed for Europe to emerge out of the Dark Ages) ,the Pope killed or baptised by force all the Muslims (and Jews) in Spain.

Then the Pope and Church along with loyal Kings started the Crusades to make sure Islam would not reach any further into Europe with their "heretical views".

The Islamic view of One God, no original sin, and the belief that there should be NO Religious hierarchy and NO organized church was a total slap in the face of Christiandom.

-----------

“The Renaissance of Europe did not take place in the 15th century. Rather it began when Europe learned from the culture of the Arabs. The cradle of European awakening is not Italy. It is the Muslim Spain.” (Robert Briffault, The Making Of Mankind)

“The Christian World came to wage crusades against Muslims but eventually knelt before them to gain knowledge. They were spellbound to see that Muslims were owners of a culture that was far superior to their own. The Dark Ages of Europe were illuminated by nothing but the beacon of Muslim Civilization.” (F.J.C Hearushaw, The Science of History.)

“The greatest crimes, the greatest “sin” of Mohammed in the eyes of Christian West is that he did not allow himself to be slaughtered, to be “crucified” by his enemies. He only defended himself, his family and his followers; and finally vanquished his enemies. Mohammed’s success is the Christians’ gall of disappointment… He did not believe in any vicarious sacrifices for the sins of others.” (Edward Gibbon, Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.)

Only the atheists have the intellectual honesty to acknowledge these Islamic accomplishments :

…eat in heaven?

I have heard that we are going to be able to eat in heaven according to these texts:

MT 8:11
"I SAY TO YOU THAT MANY WILL COME FROM THE EAST AND THE WEST, AND WILL TAKE THEIR PLACES AT THE FEAST WITH ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN...."

REV 19:9
"THEN THE ANGEL SAID TO ME, ‘WRITE: BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO ARE INVITED TO THE WEDDING SUPPER OF THE LAMB!’ AND HE ADDED, ‘THESE ARE THE TRUE WORDS OF GOD.’"

What do you say? Yes or no.

In Genesis (in the KJV)3:22 it reads – “And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.

In the Torah the same reads: “And the Lord God said, “Now that the man has become like one of us, knowing good and bad, what if he should stretch out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever!

God is saying “The man is become as one of us” ... “Now that the man has become like one of us” …

How would you as “Free Thinkers” interpret this?

Please no Scriptures or bashing,
Thank you

brought tears to your eyes?
be honest.

for me - I've been brought to tears a few times as some insensitivity was displayed, and also for those who are truly lost at this moment.

Unbelievers reading this: I know you don't understand, and I hope this doesn't offend you - it truly is a grieving process.

goodnight all

If Christians can find an excuse not to follow these verses because they are “Pauls opinion” but the rest of the Bible is the “absolute word of God” then aren’t Christians just picking and choosing what their desires agree with ??

I say Trinity and other concepts are “Pauls Opinion” but nobody is ready to agree with that because it goes against the desires of most Christians.

That means the Bible is not the “WORD OF GOD”, it is just a book written by men and Christians follow it because its all they have….and since Paul said Christians no longer need to follow the cursed Mosaic Law…….Christians can Just live according to their desires.

If somebody says they only follow the rules of the NT and Jesus saved them from the Law in the OT, then why don’t they follow these FEW rules as written below ????

Why should the “change of Times” affect the obedience to GODs Laws ?

"Any woman who prays with her head unveiled dishonors her head. It is the same as if her head were shaven, for if a woman will not veil herself then she should cut off her hair. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaven , let her wear a veil. (1 Corenthians 11 :5).

Whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her hath committed ADULTRY with HER already...-----(MATT 5:028)

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at HOME, good, OBEDIENT to their HUSBANDS... ------ (Timothy 2:005)

Likewise, ye wives, be in SUBJECTION to your own HUSBANDS. ----- (1PE 3:001)

Women should remain SILENT in the Church. They are NOT ALLOWED to speak, but must be in SUBMISSION, as the Law says. – (1 Corinthians 14:34)

"I permit NO woman to TEACH or have AUTHORITY over men". –( 1 Timothy 2:11-14)

Muhammad has brought this world more pain and sorrow than anyone at that time could have imagined. More Muslims kill other Muslims in the name of Allah than anyone else combined. Sunni vs. Shia vs. Wahhabi .... Iraqi insurgents (islamist terrorists) are killing thousands of innocent muslim iraqi civilians.

What is the explanation for all of Muhammad's errors? Was he possessed by Satan? If I believed in Satan, I would probably agree with you Christians.

In the early '70's, in the deep religious south, my father was instutionalized, for many years, for relentlessly claiming that every word of the bible was true. He would not give in to science, and tried to push these delusions on his children (my sisters and I). It was decided, by a judge, that the school system knew more than he did. He defiantly stuck to his guns. The judge decided that this level of delusion could not be allowed to influence children. Why is it now okay? What happened to my country?
