Or what if his excuse was

"You're looking at the wrong part of the report"

"Ask God to tell you what it really meant"

"I was speaking in parables" Ask your pastor to help you with it"

"I didn't really mean that. Ask God to help you understand it"

It's the police's job to report facts. The Bible isn't a police report, or a science or history report. The Bible was written by lots of different people, writing from their own point of view and writing about their faith.

You lost me as well...obviously your talking about the bible... and not understanding it.
The bible is the inspired word of God...ALL scripture is God breathed. If you honestly are searching for the truth in His word, His spirit will intercede with yours and it will be like a light came on.
God reveals to you what it means if you earnestly want to know. The problem is that to the nonbeliever the things of God sound like foolishness, because you lack the "experience" with God, and the spiritual insight, that helps you understand. There's no lying involved.
Ask God for help in understanding the bible... That's what I did. You might be amazed at what happens.
Best wishes.
