St. Paul says that a woman should wear a head covering, but if she has long hair it acts as a hair covering of her own, but how about women with short hair, shouldn't they cover their heads? (This is pertaining to N.O. churches who aren't required to wear coverings)

There is a clear explanation within Christianity, and I've heard that before. I want to know from the other side.

I mean, here on earth we obviously don't understand God's Wonderful Plan. That's Ok, in Heaven we can ask him.

Does the idea relax you that, after you ask Him about how the Holocaust, tsunamis, earthquakes, 9/11, etc, etc fitted into His Holy Plan...That he will explain it to you in a way that will finally make you think "Oh, Thank you God, good plan!"

I believe in God but I have no proof that he exists, I just have faith. Is that all the Christians who quote the Bible on here have? You don't know that the Bible is Gods word so do you just have faith? If that's all you have, then you really shouldn't be quoting from it because we could all be mistaken. right?

You say I'm rejecting the word of your god.

I say I'm rejecting the superstitious sermons of the Bronze Age inhabitants of a Middle Eastern backwater.

You say your bible's writers are divinely inspired.

I say they're deluded, or charlatans.

Obviously, you can't use the book itself to defend your stance -- you wouldn't have a rhetorical leg to stand on.

So tell me: what independent, falsifiable evidence to you have to offer to support the supposed divine origins of your scripture?

(For those of you in Rio Linda, falsifiable means that there have to be certain conditions that, if met, could prove your claim to be false. No offering arguments that can't be scrutinized...)

why doesn't god just get rid of satan. wait a minute, god knows all, so he knew that satan would turn against him, so does this mean god actually allows and is ok with all of satans wrong doings? did god plan it this way?

I believe in God and I love God, but if I thought God was asking me to kill my child to prove that I love him then I would just as soon go to hell. Luckily my Kind and loving God would never ask such a thing from me.

I agree.

According to the late Dr. Bruce M Metzger, one of the
translators for RSV and NRSV Bibles, the New Testament is
trustworthy. For instance, the first century Josephus is
considered a trustworthy source for Jewish history. His
widely accepted work The Jewish War has about nine
manuscripts written in the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth
centuries. There’s one Latin manuscript in the fourth
century. On another example, Homer’s popular work Iliad
has about 650 Greek manuscripts.

The New Testament in contrast, has over 5,000 Greek
manuscripts catalogued. Quite a few predate the Nicene
Council. There are about 8,000 to 10,000 Latin
manuscripts, 8,000 in Ethiopic, Slavic, and Armenian.
All of which combined are about 99.5% pure – more so
than any work in antiquity. His statement about the NT,
“We can have great confidence in the fidelity with which
this material has come down to us, especially compared
with any other ancient literary work.” Dr. Metzger
taught at Princeton University for 46 years and died
February 13, 2007 of natural causes.

Now let's talk about faith, which is essentially what we have hope for in Christianity. People reject faith because the evidence stops at a certain point and you start believing because you cannot see, touch, or hear biblical accounts.

But atheists have double standards... Let me explain.

We have faith that math and alphabets exist, yet truly
they have no mass, they cannot be seen, they cannot
be heard, nor can they be touched. If we have a belief
system that looks at things untouchable, unhearable and
we base our entire lives on it (ie: we need numbers
to dial, we need the alphabet to talk and write)...how
big of a stretch is it to have faith in God?

Did you know there hasn't been a single time where we
noticed random chemicals form a cell? Not a SINGLE time.
So why is it that atheists believe that we all started from
chemical pools and out of it came living organisms?

Did you know that atoms always remain in their element
and specific organization? An oxygen will always be
oxygen, a helium atom will always have properties of
a helium atom. You see these elements and atoms have
LAWS, they are pre-made. They do not evolve, they do
not transfer properties. They maintain a constant mode
of programming. If this doesn't prove God exist, it
at least surely proves that there are constants in the
universe, and these 'constants' have been setup somehow,
someway.

The formality of atoms and how they interact is incredible.
Imagine clouds in the sky forming specific shapes and
having specific functions rather than just random cloud
vapors being moved by the wind. If you started seeing
clouds in the sky making formations and reacting to each
other, you're going to ask yourself -- what in the world
makes them do that? Who setup the rules?

The answer? God. It certainly isn't evolution.

Merely saying that "Science says" without being specific shows how ignorant people are of the science. You arrogantly rant without real knowledge that the scientific disciplines contradict each other. Physics-no proof, Chemistry-no proof, Astronomy-no proof, Biology-no proof but a lot of beliefs, Paleontology-no accurate dating by a beer drinkers that dig holes.
Pointing people to some website is a cop out!

this was an answer to my recent question about sinning:

A white lie for someones benefit is not a sin. A sin is something that seperates you from Gods will. Gods will would be for you to make youe sister feel good. Microwaving a baby is not God will and would be treated completely differently.

so why is it god's will that i made my sister feel good, but it's not god's will that the baby was microwaved? and you can't say it was the work of satan, because god is clearly more powerful than satan, so all work must be of god

I am a passionate atheist. I have been called godless in the past and i have heard that Atheist have no moral compass. However Statistics have shown that while Athiests make up 8-10% of the US population they make up around 0.2% of the prison population. President Bush (the first one) even said that atheist should not be considered US Citizens because it is "one nation under god." My opinion is pretty obvious. I believe Atheism to be the "common sense" religion. I am not looking for arguments on whether god exists but whether you think atheism is a good or a bad thing in the world today.
