I am a Christian and I am not under God's thumb I am under His Grace.

Never knew the strain of being under his thumb, but I do know what it's like to reside in the palm of his hand.

None believers fall into the trap of thinking of Christianity as being the big long list of "Thou shall nots".

I actually feel free. I no longer feel the need to go into a bar and drink until I can barely walk. I no longer am compelled to smoke cigarettes until I have a nasty cough and feel sick on the inside. I no longer have to worry about all the other junk that used to be a part of my life.
I don't miss it, and what I have in it's place is priceless.

I've felt the strain of Sin ... but I've never felt the strain of being under "God's Thumb" ... but that could be due to NOT being under God's thumb.

No, I can't say that I have. I am so happy to be able to have God walking by my side everyday that I don't even think of it as a strain. Oh sure, there are sometimes when I would rather do things my way than His (if that is what you mean), but for the most part I love serving Him. He has given me so many blessings that I could never do enough for Him to repay it in any way.

Wow. Look at all the non-Christians presumptuously answering this question. And yet, you're going to pick one of their answers for your "Best Answer" anyway, aren't you? Thought so.

No, for the record, I do not feel the strain of God's "thumb." What He tells me to do is for my own good, and the good of the world, and if everyone lived that way, the whole world would be better off. Jesus gave two laws: Love God with everything in you, and love your neighbor as yourself. Not always easy, but always best for everyone involved. Even you.

Absolutely not. He allows us to make whatever choice we want. We are free. The gift of God is eternal life. Jesus Christ died for the sins of all and then rose again. It is the simplest gift and the most precious. Yes, we sin, and make mistakes but he forgives us if we just ask. Does it mean we can whore around all day over and over and still be forgiven without consequence? By no means.

I am not under his thumb, I am in the palm of his hand. The bible says he has written my name on his palm and will not forget me. It is no strain at all to be loved and cherished.

It's not God's thumb that troubles me, it's his wife's cooking. Pork, pork, pork. I had no idea there were that many's pigs in heaven. And every dang one of them pigs is gay. And liberals. It's enough to make you sick. But nobody complains 'cause they're afraid of her. She's seven fries short of a Happy Meal, you know.
