I disagree. There is no inherent reason the universe should operation with the purpose of making life easy, pleasant, or meaningful for humans. That we wish it would doesn't make it so. We do however, have the capacity to work to make our environments more pleasant for each other and ourselves. Why? Just because given the choice between doing so and not doing so it makes more sense and has better outcomes for us. We are also capable of finding or creating our own purpose and meaning for our lives. Contributing to the future of humanity through raised offspring or our own talents in improving our situation while here is a pretty good purpose I think. In doing so we contribute to the legacy of humanity far beyond our lifetimes. Knowledge is passed forward, it doesn't necessarily die with the individual. We all stand on the backs of many that came before us that enabled us to get this far. In a sense as part of humanity we are potentially immortal or very long lived. While humanity could be wiped out the outcome is not determined. We could grow and learn and expand into the universe to meet other intelligent species and expand our horizons even further. We create our future ourselves, not a god.

You know, it's kind of funny.
I don't know if I really want to know all the answers.
Sometimes in life prayers go unanswered and we wonder why. And from time to time, it will be revealed.
I've had some prayers that I've asked that didn't get answered and then later I come to learn why that thing was all wrong for me.
At the end of the day though, I know it's a great mystery, but I believe with all my heart that God is beyond reproach. In other words, who am I to question God?
If He has something he want to show me, fine. But that what obeidiance is all about.

Sitting here, safe for the moment, it doesn't seem to be appropriate. If I was a victim, as you described, I could draw comfort from the expectation. Have you heard the Blues? How bout the song 'Old Man River'? Tell me they don't draw some comfort, from trusting God.

Love and Believe in Our Creator;
Love and Believe in Yourself.

Does it scare you that you may talk to God, not having accepted His plan? Are you terrified that He may cast you into hell because you were so worried about tsunamis that you didn't feel it was necessary to receive Christ? Will you have a smart-aleck answer when His plan is revealed to you? Either way, His plan will be accomplished. Whether it makes sense to you or not. Hope you're on His side by then.

The idea that "one day it will all make sense" does relax me a bit, though as a Pagan, mine takes a different form. But not to the point where I get complacent.

I do not worry about it I know that everything works together for good to those that love him. If one was to really study the bible you will see that most of the answers (if not all) to people's questions are already given. Just have comfort in knowing that HE is in control and know what he is doing. To answer the poster above No, we do not have freewill.

No, they brain-wash you (more) on the way to heaven so you can't complain. You're just supposed to believe that the end (heaven) justifies the means (everything/one else).

I've always hated it when my parents say "when you get older you'll understand"
I want to understand NOW why things happen the way they do
