I smell angst.
Life itself is precious. What more do you want? You're lucky to be here. So we die, everything dies at some point. There's no IF about it. We die, we cease to exist, there is no life after death for us. So what? That doesn't make life pointless, unless you're the kind of person who's never satisfied, or in extremely deep denial about how life works.

1) If you believe in an afterlife, what you're doing here in this life may deteremine what happens to you after you have passed on from this physical life.
2) Living, working, loving, etc... gives some people a sense of meaning while they are here.
3) The affects of what you do now may ripple out to others and future generations, so when you take your last breath on this Earth, you may know in your heart you truly made a difference.

Yes, that way of life is stupid and a waste...
Here's the Solution for having a worthwhile Life:
Create a Private, Personal, Direct, Divine Relationship with Our Creator and save Your Soul from religion's and atheist's beliefs.
Love and Believe in Our Creator;
Love and Believe in Yourself.
Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!
Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!
"religion is Spiritual fraud"; "religion is the Worse invention of humanity" - Jesus Christ, Buddha and any one else with Spiritual intelligence.
atheists = all the people in religion = all the ignorant fundamentalists = all the cults/superstitions = paganism

It's stupid not to live a life that helps other people. It's stupid to waste what little time we have on selfish pursuits. We can accomplish whatever we want during our time on earth, but after it's over, how will our fellow man remember us? As someone who pursued wealth or as someone who would strive to help others? To me, the choice seems to be to be selfish or to be selfless. Just my two cents. Have a great day!

Agreeing with Samurai. We do things to perpetuate the species and in particular to help the success of our own families. That is the way to live a good life, and die without any regrets or needs for additional goodies. ie; an afterlife.

We are given this opportunity to love the world while we are here. It's not about what you can take with you, but what intangibles you can leave behind. As you grow up, you will begin to see that life is a process, not a product.
As soon as man does not take his existence for granted, but beholds it as something unfathomably mysterious, thought begins.
...
I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve.

Maybe... But I figure I have at least 20 years left - maybe 40 or 50. I'd rather spend them enjoying my life than lonely and just scraping by.
