You say I'm rejecting the word of your god.
I say I'm rejecting the superstitious sermons of the Bronze Age inhabitants of a Middle Eastern backwater.
You say your bible's writers are divinely inspired.
I say they're deluded, or charlatans.
Obviously, you can't use the book itself to defend your stance -- you wouldn't have a rhetorical leg to stand on.
So tell me: what independent, falsifiable evidence to you have to offer to support the supposed divine origins of your scripture?
(For those of you in Rio Linda, falsifiable means that there have to be certain conditions that, if met, could prove your claim to be false. No offering arguments that can't be scrutinized...)

When someone says "I have no proof, there isn't any, it's ALL about faith", I respect them
When someone tells me to disprove god, when anyone with half a mind knows it's impossible to prove a negative, I can't respect anyone like that
That's not standing up for their faith, that's being a coward

In preface I will state that I am a Humanist, a type of Atheist.
In their defense, I will offer the proof you seek. It's called Faith. Faith is the ability to believe with the heart what the mind finds illogical or improbable.Being a matter of faith, spirituality requires no evidence of support, only the ability to believe. There is the world we live in and there is the world we hope to live in. The faithful are simply incorporating some of the world they hope will become into their reality.
Do I agree with them, no. Sometimes I sit with my Christian friends and wonder how they could become a part of an organization where superstition and fantasy have such an impact. They are still my friends and I wish them all the best of life. There are however zealots of every type of faith who are much less understanding of those with whom they disagreee.
It is the extremists that need to be stopped for they wish harm to others even if that goal is in contradiction to their chosen religious doctrine. "If" there is a "God", he or she definitely is against such behavior.

I don't know why God has chosen me to be one of his followers but I am most happy that He has. The scriptures have little or nothing to do with my relationship to Him. It is also not related to any particular religion or denomination but is deeply embedded in my spirit. I can not prove this to you. It is something that has to be experienced to know that it is true.
The scriptures can be interpreted in many ways so even if I were to use them to make a point, it would only be from my own interpretation. My personal relationship with my God however has nothing to do with interpretation or pre conceived perceptions.
God does not speak to ones mind, but to ones spirit so using mental gymnastics to prove or disprove Him would be futile. I feel nothing but sorrow for those who have never allowed themselves the opportunity to see with their heart. Perhaps it is a good thing that they honestly don't know what they are missing.

You want so badly to prove Gods Word to be wrong. Since you think it's wrong anyway, please reveal to us with 100% accuratcy that Scripture is wrong. Go study the Bible and tell us what "new revelation" you've come up with.

In a court of law, the accused has the right to testify on his/her own behalf. The Bible is on trial, accused of being false. Why can't it testify on its own behalf?

Good question. Unfortunately the responses aren't on the same level. PLEASE STOP ASKING ATHEISTS TO DISPROVE GOD! It is impossible to disprove something. I could say that there is a flying spaghetti monster on the moon and you couldn't disprove it!
